Beyonce Talks Jay-Z’s New Album Magna Carta Holy Grail

Beyonce posted a picture on her IG of young Jay-Z with the caption Bow Down “platinum” not much more needed with this picture and the caption. July 9th, 2013 is the official release date of Jay-Z’s 12th solo album “Magna Carta Holy Grail” and even before it was released it’s already been certified platinum. The RIAA presented the hip-hop mogul with a platinum plaque for 1 million copies sold of Magna Carta Holy Grail. It marks his 12th platinum album to date.

Samsung purchased 1 million copies of the album and gave them away to their mobile users for free via the Magna Carta app on Google Play.

Jay-Z prompted the RIAA to change its certification policy, which previously required that albums be available for 30 days prior to certification. The new policy counts digital album sales immediately upon release.

Despite its pre-release, MCHG is still expected to sell around 450,000 copies in its first week.

‘R&B Divas LA’ Cast Kicks Off New Show With Hollywood Premiere Party

As you know, similar to sequels, spin-offs can do REALLY good or REALLY bad. And fans of TV One’s R&B Divas franchise are anxiously awaiting to see how the LA version fairs, against it’s ATL counterpart.

The network held a swanky, private premiere party for the new show (JB was their taking in a bit of celebrity stalking) at West Hollywood’s London hotel, with the entire cast-Kelly Price, Lil Mo, Dawn Robinson, Chante Moore, Michele and Claudette Ortiz-in the building. The show’s executive producer, Phil Thornton, was present, along with Faith Evans and Nicci Gilbert who are cast members of the ATL version. We also spotted Claudia Jordan, Jamaal Buster, Torrei Hart, Laurieann Gibson, Breesha Webb (who hosted the event) and Tearra Mari.

Gabrielle Union Joins Dwyane Wade While Promoting “Way Of Wade” Shoes In China

Right on the heels of the premiere of BET’s original film Being Mary Jane - which she stars in – Gabrielle Union touched down in China with her boyfriend Dwyane Wade last week.

D. Wade is in town promoting his Li Ning “Way of  Wade” shoes. In addition to promo rounds, the couple has had some fun while there – with karaoke, and a visit to Chimelong Safari Park; where Gabby bottle fed a baby white tiger. Check out a few pics they’ve shared from their visit inside.

She had watermelon and wine on deck, while they rock’d karaoke. She said; “Karoke in China… They brought us watermelon… So when in China… Ima drink my wine and eat the damn watermelon Anna Mae.”

Usher Makes Moves to Get Tameka Out

For years there have been rumors that Usher Raymond was desperately trying to evict his ex-wife Tameka from their former marital home in an upscale Georgia neighborhood. Well it looks like Usher just figured out a way...

According to TMZ

R&B crooner Usher Raymond is still trying to sell Tameka Raymond’s 12,000 sq ft mansion in Roswell. The sprawling mansion with 8 beds and 11 baths was listed for $3.2 million in January. But after sitting for months with no serious offers, Usher dropped the price $550K in June. The mansion boasts a chef’s kitchen with high end stainless steel appliances, a hair salon with spa, home gym and 7-car garage. The home is about 5 miles from Usher’s $1.9 million mansion in Johns Creek.

Last year I told you that Tameka refused to allow prospective buyers into the home for walk throughs. Usher ended up taking Tameka to court so he could put the house on the market. One well-heeled prospective buyer told me she had concerns over whether or not Tameka would leave the home voluntarily if the sale goes through. Property taxes are $55K annually.

A cozy blanket, red wine, fruit, ’90s R&B playing on my iPod. I don’t think you need much else.

Gay men are drawn to you and empowered by you, as they have been to “gay icons” Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Cher, and Madonna. What is it about you, and those women, that gay men love?

I’m flattered if I’m in the company of those great women. I think they love that we are bold, unafraid to love, and flaunt our sexuality and strength.

Some were critical at your participating in a Pepsi campaign after you moved your body for childhood obesity. Where is the balance between your career objectives and your philanthropy?

Pepsi is a brand I’ve grown up seeing my heroes collaborate with. The company respects musicians and artistry. I wouldn’t encourage any person, especially a child, to live life without balance. When you work out, take care of your body, rehearse as hard as I rehearsed in the commercial, I think it’s great to have a Pepsi or Diet Pepsi when you want one. It’s all about choices.

You have always carefully sculpted your image and controlled public access to your off-stage life. Is there anything to envy about stars who don’t care about safeguarding their private lives?

I have chosen to keep certain aspects of my life private. But I also love sharing what makes me happy, especially through photography.

What’s boring to you?

Lack of creativity.

Jennifer Lopez Reveals She Was Homeless at 18

*In a new interview with W Magazine, Jennifer Lopez says that a disagreement with her mother left her briefly homeless at 18.

The Bronx-born actress said she wanted to pursue a career in show business despite her family’s disapproval.

“My mom and I butted heads,” Lopez tells W’s August issue. “I didn’t want to go to college — I wanted to try dance full-time. So she and I had a break. I started sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio. I was homeless, but I told her, ‘This is what I have to do.’ A few months later, I landed a job dancing in Europe. When I got back, I booked ‘In Living Color.’ I became a Fly Girl and moved to L.A. It all happened in a year.”

J.Lo said it took a while for her to get used to the West Coast.

“I hated L.A.,” the 43-year-old admits. “I was asking, ‘Where’s the store for milk? Don’t you guys walk on the street?’ Now I love Los Angeles, but it doesn’t give me strength the way the Bronx did. All the strength that I needed for life, I got from that neighborhood.”

Now a mom herself, Lopez knows that she is setting an example for her 5-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she had with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

“I think a lot about teaching my kids to work hard,” Lopez says. “I’ve learned something about kids — they don’t do what you say; they do what you do. I watched my parents. My dad worked nights, and I was aware of how much he was doing for us. My mom was a Tupperware lady and also worked at the school. I always felt that I couldn’t let them down,” she adds. “And I had a natural discipline from early on. I was always training for something.”

Lopez visited her childhood home in the Bronx for the cover story. She admitted to being a bit nervous about her return, citing that the last time she was there was when her “mom and dad called us home to tell us that they were separating after 33 years of marriage.”

50 Cent Says He's Re-Writing His Will, Claims It Was Marquis' Mom ACTING Like Her Son On Those Disgusting Texts

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson made some moves recently that even the worst of the worst fathers may hesitate a bit before making.  He railed his own kid, via text message.

I told you about the leaked texts between 50 and his son Marquis.  Fif disowned him in the tets, called him several names, cursed him out completely, and essentially said he doesn't want to have anything to do with him.  And apparently, it was all due to some custody/visitation issues where 50 believed Marquis was playing games in not allowing his father to come see him.

Here's a refresher:

 50 Cent: Tell your mother she won. She has you and ill make another. I will have nothing to do with you. Don’t text me ever again.

Marquise: U keep texting me lol

50 Cent: It’s cool I will never go out of my way again. You disrespectful little mother f*cker.

Marquise: Lol u never do I don’t know not that doesn’t even call there son for his birthday

Marquise: Or get him a gift for his b-day or for Christmas.

50 Cent: You are your mothers son. I don’t have a son anymore.

50 Cent: F*ck you all you want is a gift. Like your mother and your ungrateful sister.

50 Cent: Delete my number.

50 Cent: You never call what the f*ck I’m suppose to call you to give you something sorry

And it got much worse.

50 now owns up to the texts, but says he believes it was Marquis' mom, Shaniqua, acting like Marquis...all so she could sell the texts to a website.  And he says he's re-writing his will....and giving most of his money to Tiffany Lighty, the daughter of his late long time manager Chris Lighty.  (Oddly, Veronica, Chris' wife & Tiffany's mother, was involved in a bit of controversy surrounding Chris' suspicious death.)

Here's Fif's response yesterday:

That was his mother texting me as him.she sold that to a web site.she hate me for Winning, it's hard to replace me

People can often write in third person and it still actually be them on the texts.  But apparently, 50 doesn't think so.

Fourth Of July Parade Confederate Watermelon Display dIsplaying WHITE HISTORY MONTH?

Town officials in Hope Mills, North Carolina, are fielding calls from irate residents after the town’s 4th of July parade featured an antique farm tractor flying a Confederate battle flag and towing a watermelon-filled trailer with a sign reading “White History Month: Hug WTE PPL.” For some reason, the callers said they thought the display might be racist. Town officials are considering instituting tighter rules on parade entry applications, possibly including a line about “no racist bullshit allowed, and don’t pretend your dogwhistle bullshit isn’t racist, you moron.”

According to the Fayette Observer, The tractor and trailer were among eight antique vehicles entered in the parade by Donnie Spell, who has participated in town parades “for years,” according to Hope Mills Parks and Recreation Department head Kenny Bullock, who also said that “he had asked a member of Spell’s family to take the signs down before the parade started,” and only learned that they were still on the trailer when people started calling his cell phone to complain during the parade.

Town officials told Durham TV station WTVD that Spell’s application for the parade entry said only that “he would be pulling an antique tractor with a sign that read: ‘Watermelons for sale.’” The TV station also spoke to a neighbor of Spell’s who “said he didn’t think the man was trying to be vicious or funny,” because that is the sort of stupid thing neighbors say to cover their friends’ obviously race-baiting asses.

In one of the least apt possible deployments of a cliché, Parks & Recreation head Bullock added,

“I feel like, in my opinion, I feel like there’s a time and a place for everything … Was the parade the place? I don’t think so.”

Dude, there really is such a thing as too much inclusiveness.

Online supporters of Mr. Spell insisted that he’s just a good ol’ boy never meanin’ no harm, and pretended that there was nothing racist about the signs, since the blacks have a history month and a cable network.

Maxwell announces Duet Album with Alicia Keys

Maxwell has just announced that him and Ms. Keys will be doing a duet album together, he revealed to Billboard.com  that they are both in the studio creating some magic.

Maxwell said they are looking to go the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terell route. He says “We got a thing musically,” explained Maxwell. “That’s like my little sister. What’s funny is Swizz [Beatz] is the champion of all of it… She’s someone that I trust. I’m like that, by the way. Most of the people you see working for me are actually with me. And I’m proud to say that I’ve known them 20 years almost.” That is a really cute concept, but for those that are worried about this and thinks to yourself, like I’m thinking… This won’t work….It probably won’t ever see the light of day.. Maxwell stay promising albums, but you never get them.. I like the idea.. I mean The Fire We Make is an excellent song. But doing a whole album…. I don’t think so…. His solo album is expected to be released at the end of the summer.

Michael B. Jordan, Octavia Spencer + The Cast of ‘Fruitvale Station’ Attend NYC Premiere

The cast of critically acclaimed, ‘Fruitvale Station’ attended the premiere at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film is based on the is based on the true story of Oscar Grant (portrayed by Michael B. Jordan), a 22-year old man who was killed by police on New Years Day 2009. The movie recounts Grant’s last day as he tangles with enemies, friends and strangers until his final moments.

At this years Sundance Film Festival, the film won both the Grand Jury Prize for feature and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film. Oscar-winners Octavia Spencer, Cuba Gooding Jr., actress Melonie Diaz,  BET’s Debra Lee and rapper Fabolous walked the red carpet. Peep the pics below.

Chris Paul COVERS The October 2012 ISSUE Of "GQ" Magazine, 

Basketball superstar Chris Paul covers the latest issue of GQ (he's one of three covers starring Denzel Washington and Javier Bardem) where inside, he invites readers to his parents 30th wedding anniversary!  He talks up the importance of family (he and wife Jada just welcomed their second kiddie this summer) and having a great support system.  And also reveals how his height has played a large role in the man he has become.  Here are the highlights:

On the positive aspects of being short:

"I've been fortunate to be short my entire life. There's only one position I've ever had to play, and that's point guard. So I've always had to be that leader. And that was my job: you know, to talk."

On his negative outburst resulting from Lakers player Pau Gasol "sonning" him:

"We call that sonnin', Like when I take Li'l Chris to the bathroom, I'll walk with my hand on his head. That's my son. You know what I mean? I understand that Gasol is that tall, but don't do to me what I do to my son."

On being a people person:

"I'm a big-time people person, too. Like, I love people. I hate to be by myself." He repeats the phrase to himself, quieter each time: "I hate to be by myself. I hate to be by myself. I hate to be by myself."

On the importance of family:

"I realize that I'm not going to be doing interviews for the cover of GQ for the rest of my life, know what I mean? I'm on TV because I play basketball really well. But when all this is over with—say something crazy happens, God forbid, and I can't perform anymore. All those people that were in there? They're still gonna be there."

Ravens WR Torrey Smith’s Brother Killed In Motorcycle Accident

Baltimore Ravens wider receiver Torrey Smith’s younger brother Tevin was killed in a motorcycle crash in Westmoreland County, Va. Saturday.

A Virginia State trooper arrived at the scene on Route 674 Chatham Lane in the Montross area just before midnight. Police say 19-year-old Tevin L. Jones was traveling eastbound on his 2006 Yamaha YZF-R1 when he ran off the right side of the road, striking a utility pole.

Jones, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, died at the scene.

According to the Baltimore Ravens, Torrey left the team’s downtown Baltimore hotel shortly after 1 a.m. to be with his family.

Head Coach John Harbaugh issued the following statement:

 “This is devastatingly sad, sad news. Torrey and his family are a close, special family, and our hearts and thoughts reach out to all of them. Our hearts ache today. We pray for Tevin, his mother, Torrey and the rest of the family. God bless Tevin.“

Police say alcohol was not a factor. The investigation into the accident continues.

Meek Mill Puts Baby Mama on Blast + Calls Her A Bum for Abusing Child Support

Apparently, Meek Mill (real name Robert Williams) and the mother of his child are having some technical difficulties; technical meaning the two obviously aren’t getting along these days. Over the weekend, we caught the Philly rapper venting on Instagram, alleging that his baby moms is taking full advantage of the money that he’s provided (as of late). He wrote:

Well Tameka Raymond is taking to Entertainment Tonight to speak on her and Usher

Entertainment Tonight for her first tell-all interview. Usher took his interview to Oprah first. Tameka has been though a lot in the past few months. The child custody battle was a terrible verdict taking away her full-time rights of her children to Usher. Tameka is ready to have her say at her side of the story.

She will sit down with Entertainment Tonight, according to Rhymes with Snitch, in a three part interview. The interview will be no holds barred and part one will air on Monday, September 24th. In the interview she gives a tour of the home she shared with Usher, the loss of her son Kile and reveals information she believes could have swayed the child custody case in her favor had it come out in court.

Tameka is not giving up the fight because she knows she is the best fit for her children to be with over Usher. She is a wonderful mother and is currently appealing the ruling of primary custody of her two sons with Usher.

There’s a New Basketball Wife Coming…..THIS TIME A REAL ONE!

"Basketball Wives" (the original) is finally getting an actual wife.  Since the only two chicks who were actually married during their season--Meeka Claxton and Kenya Bell--are no longer a part of the show, and Royce Reed, Jennifer Williams & Kesha Nichols got the boot as well, it's time to fill the slots.

VH1 tapped Tasha Marbury (pictured above on her wedding day to Stephon) because she's actually married to an ex-NBAer and is already friends with some of the cast (pictured above with Evelyn).  Not as if that friendship thing mattered in previous seasons.  According to TMZ:

Sources close to the production tell us ... Tasha Marbury is in final talks to join the show -- a much needed cast replacement after Royce, Jennifer and Kesha were all axed.

Sources tell us, Tasha was previously asked to do season 1 of "BB Wives", except Stephon nixed the idea -- but now he lives in China part time playing for the Beijing Ducks ... and changed his tune.

By the way, Evelyn still hasn't been officially signed on for next season.  Looks like there could be almost a totally new cast.

Angela Stanton Pulls Out the Big Guns. Angela Stanton wrote a book called Lies of a Real Housewife claiming to expose her criminal ties to Real Housewives of Atlanta's Phaedra Parks 

Phaedra immediately dismissed the book and filed a defamation lawsuit against Angela's publisher [click here if you missed that], but that hasn't stopped Angela from lobbing even more outrageous accusations against Phaedra...

Tisha Campbell & Duane Martin Sued For BIG BUCKS For Mortgage

In other news, Duane Martin and his wife Tisha are catching some heat from the bank over their mortgage.  The couple owes over $400,000 after allegedly defaulting on a 2008 loan for their waterfront Lake Arrowhead, California home.

The loan was actually a second loan taken out by the couple from City National Bank.  They allegedly already defaulted on their first loan of over $700,000, taken out from Aurora Bank.  After the bank foreclose don the property and sold it at auction for $925,000, Aurora was paid back first and the remainder given to City National.

Their City National loan ballooned to over $630,000, and only $193,000 was used from the sale of the property to satisfy this amount.  Now, of course, City National wants the rest of their money.  So they are suing the couple.

The Martins' response?  Their rep says they shouldn't be "bullied" into paying the loan because the bank received $400 million in government subsidy back in 2009 to help in situations like these.  Plus, The Martins say they are being discriminated against.  Not sure how you're entitiled to get out of a loan scott-free simply because you can't pay for it, but OK.

TMZ says the rep would not explain HOW exactly they are being discriminated against.  Alrighty then.

Caribbean shots fired!  Rohan Calls Wyclef a DAMN LIAR!

Last week Wyclef Jean released an excerpt from his autobiography 'Purpose an Immigrant's Story' where he dropped the bomb that the Fugees broke up because Lauryn Hill lied to him about the paternity of her oldest son 

Wyclef says Lauryn lead him to believe he was the father when actually the father was Rohan Marley. Rohan says Wyclef is telling lies to sell his book...

Rohan, who dated Lauryn from '96 to 2011, and tells TMZ ... Wyclef "knew from jump that was my son from the day [Lauryn] was pregnant."

Rohan -- one of Bob Marley's sons, and a former football stud at U. of Miami -- does admit Lauryn and Wyclef screwed around before he came on the scene, but says he's confident it ended because Wyclef actually played matchmaker ... "They were definitely not messing around, or he would never have given me the okay."

He also says he and Lauryn were together in studio sessions night and day back then so there wouldn't even be time for her to have the alleged affair. 

Rohan added he thinks Wyclef is "just saying false things to get book headlines" -- and he has no plans to talk it out with 'Clef because "he knows he is fronting himself.

For his part, Wyclef tells TMZ, "There is no way that I would have shown up in the hospital in that circumstance to wait for a baby to be born if it was not mine. The idea of a memoir is to tell the truth. I know that often the truth hurts, but a lie hurts even more."

Still Grand Prize after all these years! Iman FABULOUS In Valentino At New York City Ballet Gala

It's that time of the year again.  The gorgeous ones tuned out for Thursday night's New York City Ballet Fall Gala to celebrate the opening of the 2012-2013 NYC Ballet season.  And supermodel Iman just reminded everyone why pushing 60....may not be such a bad thing...

She's 57 and simply stunning.  Model Iman hit the red carpet for the opening night of the New York City Ballet last night at at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center.  And since Italian fashion designer Valentino was the honored designer of the evening, Iman rocked a classic black Valentino gown for the occasion.

Valentino also created exclusive costumes for the one-night-only performance that included pointe shoes in ruby red — his signature color.

Loves the hair jewelry.  Sarah Jessica Parker, Anne Hathaway and 800 others were front and center for the delicious event.  Gorgeousness indeed.

Bradley and Zoe…Back together again?

Their short-lived romance ended back in March and by the beginning of September they appeared awkward while promoting their new film The Words together.

But it seems Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana have decided to give it another go. 

The Hangover actor was seen leaving Zoe's house early on Saturday morning and after a brief time apart, the couple met up once more - this time for a romantic trip to the cinema.

The couple, who met on the set of The Words, dressed down for their Saturday night cinema trip.

Bradley, 37, wore a pair of casual grey trousers  with a navy blue bomber jacket and trainers. 

The 34-year-old, who didn't appear to be wearing any make up, wore her hair down and a pair of thick-rimmed glasses.

Bradley put a protective arm around his former co-star as they left the Archlight Dome Theater in West Hollywood, where they watched controversial film The Master about the founder of Scientology L.Ron Hubbard.

Earlier that morning, Bradley was seen leaving Zoe's house in Los Angeles after a sleepover. 

Zoe, who appeared to be in her gym clothes, was seen waving him off as she tucked into a bowl of cereal. 

Before meeting up for their evening date, Bradley managed to fit in a quick session of tennis.

The actor, who had changed into white shorts and a blue zip-up jacket,  was seen walking to his car alongside his instructor after finishing up some tennis practice in Studio City, California. 

At the beginning of September things seemed strained between the pair as they posed alongside each other at the premiere of The Words in Los Angeles.
