R.I.P. Jim Kelly

The martial arts grandmaster who starred alongside Bruce Lee in the iconic 1973 film Enter The Dragon died yesterday. He was 67. His ex-wife confirmed his death in a Facebook post. Jim Kelly was an international karate champion with his own school in LA when he was cast in the kung fu classic billed as “the first American-produced martial arts spectacular. His fighting skills and imposing screen presence — a lanky 6-foot-2 topped by a funky Afro — earned Kelly the title role in 1974′s Black Belt Jones. After that, he appeared in numerous action films through the ’70s. Later he became a professional tennis player, joining the USTA Senior Men’s Circuit and starred alongside LeBron James in a 2004 Nike TV ad.

Mariah Carey Announces ‘The Art of Letting Go’ Pushed Back

Following the unexpected leak of the album title, and the previously confirmed released date, Mariah Carey is taking a step back and has decided she is not quite ready to release her album in July.

‘The Art of Letting Go’ was originally scheduled to hit stores on July 23, but has now been pushed back to an undisclosed date.

The Pop diva made the announcement via Twitter. “While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don’t feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23,” tweeted Mariah. “I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 know!”

We were curious after she was recently in the studio with Young Jeezy and Mike WiLL Made It, see here. In addition the LP is expected to boast collaborations with hitmakers including Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox, Rodney Jerkins, Hit-Boy, The-Dream, and more.

Her first single, the Miguel-assisted “#Beautiful” is currently No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and she shared a picture in Capri shooting another video with Miguel earlier this month.

Mariah is set to perform at the BET Awards on June 30 and the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on July 4.

TV SET FABULOUS: Tamar Braxton SHOWS Her Post-Baby Bod While REHEARSING For "The Real"

Although it's only been a few weeks since Tamar Braxton gave birth to son Logan Vincent Herbert, the new mommy is already back to work.  She showed off her post-baby body while on the set with her co-hosts Tamera Mowry-Housley, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, & Jeannie Mai.

The ladies are in LA prepping for the national debut of the newest & most diverse daily panel talk "The Real" which starts its test run on July 15 in LA, NY, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Houston and Tampa.

And the female bonding seems to be going very well as Jeannie Mai tweeted,

Tamera Mowry-Housley POST NEW PICS With Adam And SON Aden

Tamar's fellow co-host Tamera Mowry Housley posted pics of her family on a getaway to Yountville last weekend....the same place she and Adam got married.

"Last weekend, Adam and I took a weekend trip to Yountville. We love this place – it’s where we got married and there’s nowhere else where I feel more at peace. This trip though, we had a brand new addition to the family – Aden! I can’t believe how fast time has gone by. I can remember visualizing bringing my son or daughter to this very spot on the day Adam and I got married. And now taking Aden to his second home just takes it to a whole other level. When we visited the spot, I just had to take a picture!"

During the trip, Aden top his first dip in the pool his dad.  "It was such a surreal feeling. All I can say is that every day I fall more and more in love with my baby boy. I love being a mommy!! And it doesn’t hurt that I’ve got an amazing hubby to help me along the way :)"

And don't worry about Aden getting any sunburn. Tamera took care of that, "Soaking up the sunshine and lovin’ life…made sure he had SPF on first!"  

This baby is absolutely ADORBS.

New Music: Prince feat. Ledisi – Ain’t Gonna Miss U (When U’re Gone)

Oh lord. What a combo. As you should know by now, Prince is officially back, and he continues to release new music! The icon has liberated the new signle “Ain’t Gonna Miss U (When U’re Gone),” which features Ledisi.

The Grammy-nominated vocalist joins the Purple One on this pure funk classic. Reminiscent of the Prince we all love. The horns and reverberating bassline and funky worm vocal effects will have you undeliably bobbin along. Along with his collaborations with his female rock band 3rd Eye Girl, you can hear Prince on Janelle Monae’s upcoming album The Electric Lady.

The Dream Goes On Twitter Rant About His Album Sales, Shades J. Cole

I need for Dream to have so many seats that it’s ridiculous, why did he go on a Twitter Rant all because someone pointed out that his album sold nothing and was a flop, so of course he started ranting to no end…. Then proceeds to shade J. Cole even though he didn’t say his name. Blaming the fact that this isn’t the 90′s blah, blah, but his album IV play only pushed 43,000 units… WOMP, WOMP…. What The Dream fails to understand, there is only a select few that can sell records in this industry, Beyonce, Jay, Kanye, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood to name a few. No one wants to hear his music…. So I suggest he sticks to writing and producing that is what his nitch is…. Check his rants

Stick to the background dude. Nobody wants to hear a horny teddy bear beg for sex. This is 2013….Men in the music industry have so many feelings. They get on Twitter or on an interview and have real live woman fits. Not attractive. In the end I see why he would hate on J. Cole, I mean he is projected to push 200k-300k within his first week, meanwhile no one really knew that The Dream had an album dropping and if they did, they didn’t care enough to buy it. I suggest he have a seat….

Ciara Defends N-Word Usage, Should African-Americans Use It?

With Paula Deen still fresh in the headlines for her n-word controversy, singer Ciara is speaking out about the word’s usage in her own music. She claims that, because she is African-American, usage of the word is in a different context than a racist.

Speaking with Access Hollywood Live, the “I’m Out” singer explained the term has a different meaning than what it has had in the past, elaborating:

“As an entertainer you have fun and it’s all about the context it’s used in. I am an African-American woman, so I can identify with that word in different ways.”

 “It’s all about the context and in my case I know I can have fun because I know where I’m coming from with it. You have to be light-hearted and it has to be in a certain way. I cannot hear another person of another race saying, ‘you this’ like ‘you that.’ Again, it’s all about how you say it and what context it’s used in.”

“That word has as much power as you give it.”

While the last quote certainly holds true, do you feel the word should be (realistically) laid to rest altogether? Should the n-word be acceptable for all races to use in our current culture? Weigh in, divas!

John Legend Talks New Album, ‘Love In The Future’ and Chevy Impala Campaign

John Legend has done nothing but awe his fans over and over again. From “Used To Love You” to one of his latest hits, “Tonight (Best You Ever Had)”, the soulful crooner continues to make us fall in love with him with every song that he delivers. Now, 5 years after his last album Evolver, Legend is preparing for the September 3 release of his fourth studio album, Love In The Future.

In a recent interview with Billboard, JL spoke about his the upcoming album, as well as his new Chevy Impala campaign. Chevrolet, most recently known for taking some of today’s biggest artists and lacing their commercials with their tracks, did more than an exceptional job with choosing Mr. Legend for their 2014 Chevy Impala campaign.

Stating to Billboard during the filming of the commercial back in May, “Growing up in a family of autoworkers in the Midwest, I’m very sensitive to the fact that we want to support great American manufacturers that are making our cars,” Legend noted being apart of this campaign hit home for him. Making its debut on television and in movie theaters on June 28, John states: “I thought it was an exciting thing to support this classic brand being reinvigorated. The car’s beautiful and I’m excited to represent it.”

On his upcoming Love In The Future album, John mentioned that he was executive producer of the well-anticipated record along with Kanye West and Dave Tozer. Other hit-makers mentioned as contributors to the project are Hit-Boy, Da Internz, DJ Camper and more. He states, “We made something I think really presents where I am in my life right now. Lyrically, the title kind of embraces where I’m heading in life, I’m about to get married. It’s the beginning of something new, I’m optimistic about it, and you can hear that in the tone of the tracks. I wanted to make a really great modern soul album.”

It's family time for the Roc!  Jay-Z & his new Roc Nation Sports signee, Pro baseballer Robinson Cano brought his superhero friends to the 40/40 Club.  And it was all for a good cause.  He and his celeb friends rasied some money doing a Donimo tournament for his RC24 Foundation.

The latest baller to pledge their allegiance to Roc Nation Sports, Kevin Durant, was on hand to support his new Roc fam.

Did Tahiry & Joe Budden Break Up? & Is Joe Budden Insinuating Tahiry Is Pregnant?

I'm hoping this information is NOT accurate, but according to Joe Budden's Twitter page, it seems like him and Tahiry have possibly broken up again. And the cause of the breakup is once again Joe's fault as he claims (in his own words, not mine) that Tahiry caught him in the bed with another chick?

LHHA’s Kirk Hints At Divorce With Rasheeda, ‘Me & Rasheeda are friends for sure Denies Rasheeda Is Pregnant by Scrappy!

It seems that most of us are rooting for Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Rasheeda and hubby Kirk Frost. But only four episodes into season two, the couple are seemingly going through a rough time. Financial and communication issues and a baby on the way has spelled trouble for the Kirk household. Earlier this month, rumors swirled that the pair are heading to divorce court, questions about his sexuality were raised and maybe Rasheeda is pregnant with cast mates Scrappy’s baby. In an interview with Hip Hop Daily Press, Kirk addresses (as much as he can) rumors that he and divorce are heading towards divorce, why he intervened in the infamous ‘candle throwing’ incident with K.Michelle and Rasheeda, and rumors that he’s gay. Peep a few excerpts:

On how he feels about season two, as opposed to season one:

Season one, things went well but with season 2 we should get a lot more out of it. You can’t have a call in it. You wake up and you hear all these things about yourself. I deal with so much on a daily. I’m still learning, behind the scenes and for me to be where I’m at now, Im still making an adjustment to it.

On rumors that this will be his last season on LHHA:

I would do it. There is some type of enjoyment that you get out of the work as well. I’m not looking to not do Love & Hip Hop. There is so much going on in the second season, I can’t even think where do we go from here.

The most challenging part of him being in a relationship with Rasheeda:

That’s [the business] the most challenging part about the relationship other than the relationship itself. Rasheeda is my friend, we’re always gonna be friends and thats the good part about it. We are argue back and forth like brothers and sisters in a way because the artist thing, she has things she thinks she should do as an artist and I have things I think she should do as an artist. With her being a wife she can do things that an artist cant do, which again I try to tell her if she were another artist it wouldn’t work this way.

Why He Intervened In The K.Michelle and Rasheeda Altercation:

I tried to stay out of the Rasheeda and K.Michelle thing, but when it came to the point where K.Michelle picked up the candle, everybody’s says candle wax, but it was a glass candle and she threw it at Rasheeda’s face. If Rasheeda’s reflexes were any slower, you could have bust an eye or knocked a tooth out.

Rasheeda is pregnant at this time. Everybody is not getting the just of why I’m stepping to her. TV is one thing, working is another thing but you permanent scarring her or hurting her that way, thats not part of what we signed up for. That’s my son’s mom, that’s my wife.

If he and Rasheeda are getting a divorce:

Have things gotten rough for us? Yes. You guys are gonna see a lot of it on the show. A lot of the stuff honestly we put it on broadway. You are gonna get a lot deeper into Kirk and Rasheeda. Me and Rasheeda are definitely friends for sure. Rasheeda is really emotional right now, she really is pregnant.

If Rasheeda Is Pregnant By Scrappy:

No. Rasheeda is not pregnant by Scrappy. People hear me say one thing and then run with the rumors.

On His Sexuality:

I am straight as I can be. I don’t like guys, never wanna like guys, never been gay, never will be gay.

Is Rihanna The Most Eligible B***h In Town?

Rihanna has no worries literally and she is over the Chris Brown back and forth drama once and for all. Rihanna states that she wants someone who will be loyal and respect her. She has grown tired of the back and forth according to sources.

According to Hollywood Life Rihanna was mainly focused on her tour and getting to the money and is reportedly not worried about rushing into a new romance – though she is open to the option if it ever comes.

“If someone comes across her path, and they’re both feeling it, then she’d make a move,” the insider continued. “But my b***h isn’t searching for anybody. She’s not thirsty, that’s all.”

While Rihanna seems to be enjoying the single life, rumors went into overdrive this week when Karreuche was spotted with Chris in his car with him when he rear-ended another vehicle in Los Angeles. But despite the pair appearing practically inseparable, those close to the ‘Yeah 3x’ singer insist he’s not getting serious with Tran, or anyone else.

“He ain’t about to hop into a relationship and be serious with anybody,” a close pal told HollywoodLife. “Not Rihanna and not Karrueche.”

“He ain’t about to be forced into doing anything,” the source went on. “He’s in a serious relationship with his music, his career and his life. He’s doing him, and learning about Chris these days!” Deep.

The amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala Raises $25 Million With Help Of Celebs

Janet Jackson was amongst several other celebrities that supported amfAR this week. She looked simply divine as she attended the 20th Annual Cinema Against AIDS Gala in Cap d’Antibes, France.

Since its inception in 1985, Janet has reportedly donated over $150 million dollars to the organization. Not that she can’t afford to. According to recent reports, she has now joined the billionaire’s club and did so without the aid of her billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana. But, Forbes is disputing that claim…

Kendrick Lamar On The Molly Craze “It’s Time To Move On”

This is why I love me some Kendrick Lamar, he is not about following the crowd. Kendrick Lamar recently issued a PSA at the end of his “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” video, flashing the message: “Death To Molly.”

The Compton MC then called out the MDMA drug, which has landed rappers like Rick Ross in trouble for slipping it into their lyrics. “Sometimes you have the trends that’s not that cool. You may have certain artists portraying these trends and don’t really have that lifestyle and then it gives off the wrong thing,” K. Dot told Sway. “And it becomes kinda corny after a while. It’s about keeping hip-hop original and away from the corniness.”

I couldn’t agree with him, like this Molly craze is really getting out of control if you ask me. “When everybody consciously now uses this term or this phrase and putting it in lyrics, it waters the culture down,” he added. “So it’s really just time to move on.”

SPLITVILLE: Tim Duncan And Wife Amy Are Divorcing??

A divorce case filed here two months ago that bears only the initials of the husband and wife has all the hallmarks of being that of Spurs star Tim Duncan and his wife, Amy.

The case is playing out in Bexar County District Court. Court papers filed last week include a request that legal discovery in the case be postponed until after the Spurs’ last playoff game.

Efforts to confirm Thursday that the legal proceedings involve Tim Duncan, 37, and Amy, 35, were unsuccessful.

But there are a few other clues in the case that point to the couple:

The style of the case is A.S.D. vs. T.T.D. Tim Duncan’s middle name is Theodore.

The petition says the couple married on or about July 21, 2001, which coincides with the date of the Duncans’ nuptials.

Two children were born to the parties in the petition: A daughter with the initials S.I.D., born June 27, 2005, and a son, W.D.D., born Aug. 3, 2007.

The Duncans have a daughter, Sydney, who reportedly was born on that date. Their son, Draven, is believed to have been born in 2007, though an exact birth date couldn’t be determined.

The Duncans were college sweethearts at Wake Forest University, where Tim starred on the Deacons basketball team and Amy was a cheerleader. Tim graduated in 1997 and was the first overall pick in the NBA draft, made by the Spurs.

A.S.D. initiated the divorce proceedings on March 27. T.T.D responded with a counter petition that was filed Monday.

Richard Orsinger, one of A.S.D.’s divorce lawyers, wrote in an email that he had nothing to say on the subject.

You didn’t hear this from me….But I heard Love & Hip Hop New York Cast Pissed At Contracts, Holding Strike Against VH1

Let’s say, we’re just not that surprised by this rumor. Of course it could be absolutely false, but chances are, there’s some truth to it. We’ll share our insight towards the end. Here’s the skinny. According to TMZ, the cast of Love & Hip Hop New York is trying to increase their business hustle and up the ante with their contract negotiations. Reportedly, they are refusing to go to work. Rumor has it, this week, the cast was supposed to show up in NYC, to film a trailer for next season. So what happened? Only half of the cast showed up, while the other half stayed home in protest because negotiations. The cast members that actually showed up, are said to have left upset, as they felt they should be entitled to revised contracts as well. So what more do they want out of their contract? First, the obvious is money. In fact, double of what they currently get paid. Second, they want editing power–as in, they’re not Mc Lovin’ how they were portrayed last season. Emergency meetings have been called and if all parties don’t come to Jesus, the cast may strike even longer.

What do we think? An insider told us that cast of the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta spin-off show has similar concerns. Not all of them, but some of them are VERY upset that they’re not getting paid as much as they may be worth. What motivates them more is that their ratings KILL the original New York version (click here to read TV executive Carlos King’s thoughts on why Atlanta out performs New York). So what’s stopping them? The entire cast can’t stick together to formulate a plan of action. Off camera (and on), half of them can’t get along enough to join forces and get VH1 to take them seriously. Meanwhile, we haven’t heard a peep from the show’s executive producer, Mona Scott-Young. But from what we’re told, she has very little to do with contracts and what the cast is paid. So the finger can’t be pointed her way.

BTW, if this concept (of striking) sounds unfamiliar to you–it really isn’t and happens in TV all of the time. Case in point, back in 1996, the cast of the popular show ‘Friends’, striked, holding out as a team, negotiating WAY more than they were initially offered. Love & Hip Hop isn’t bringing in those type of throw-back numbers, but some suggest they do have more power than they know. Anywho, stay tuned as we’ll be hustlin’ up some more intel.

Draya Michele, Trey Songz, T.I. and Porsha Williams were among the stars who attended an exclusive white party last week in Atlanta.

Last week in Atlanta, nightlife promoter Alex Gidewon and Grey Goose Cherry Nior presented an exclusive private screening at Prive Nightclub, one of Atlanta's newest and sexiest venues.

The "All White Affair" was hosted by "BBW LA" star Draya (who tweeted ""Like whaaaaaaaaaaaa #manijustshittedonem") and R&B crooner Trey Songz.

Party host Trey Songz was seen making his way through the crowd in a white sleeveless t-shirt.

The King of The South, T.I., arrived wearing a black t-shirt and camoflauge pants. We're sure folks didn't mind that he opted out of the white dress code. He's the King. He can do as he pleases.

"LAHH ATL" husband Kirk Frost was there.

And "RHOA" starlet Porsha Williams also stepped out for the function. Hmm...It sees like Porsha smiles a lot more since Kordell walked out of her life.

Draya 's "BBW LA" co-star Bambi seems to attend a lot of ATL events. It's only a matter of time before she winds up on one of ATL's many reality shows.

Tichina’s daughter got the surprise of her life when she was able to kick it with Bey and Jay while attending her concert in France and Beyonce gaver her daughter the mic to sing along with her and Tichina caught everything on camera. How awesome….Check the pictures inside.

Tichina took to her twitter to express her appreciation for Beyonce and Jay : The reason I am grateful 2 @beyonce @officialbeyonce & @jayzofficial is because they chose to include a short video of my daughter Alijah, & Julez @solange son, when they were dancing their butts off 2gether back stage in the green room at Bey’s 2009 concert .

This will hardly ever happen in a kids life who looks up to @beyonce & LOVES 2 entertain as much as my kid Alijah does. Needless 2say..she was SHOCKED when she saw herself on the screen in that AMAZING & packed concert. And Yes….We flew all the way to France 2 make it happen. But sometimes as a parent, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I’m just glad it all worked out & God blessed me 2be ABLE 2 do it. My husband & I can get sum rest now. Thank God. Lol!

Jennifer Hudson Says She’ll Only Do American Idol if Kelly Clarkson Joins Her

With ‘American Idol’ rumored to be cleaning house of all judges, former contestant, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson is in talks to return as a judge…If fellow alum Kelly Clarkson does. Ratings for season 12 were at an all time low for the show even with the additions of Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban. Veteran judge Randy Jackson announced his departure last week. Reportedly, Fox is interested in bringing back Adam Lambert, Clay Aiken, Clarkson and Hudson as judges. Sources close to singer have stated:

Jennifer is intrigued by the idea of returning to the place that helped propel her to superstardom but will only do so if Clarkson joins her.

No official word from Fox or Jennifer’s camp on joining the show. Jennifer returned to the ‘American Idol’ stage last week, performing with winner Candice Clover.

Hudson is working her third album to be released later this year.
