Man stabbed and MURDERED girlfriend who told him she had HIV

SIMPLY TRAGIC NEWS: Neighbor says victim's son and daughter ran out crying and yelling "Something's wrong with mama!"

Larry Dunn, Jr., a 36-year-old Texas man, is accused of murdering Cicely Bolden, 28, because she revealed she was HIV positive after the two had sex. Dallas Police say Dunn admitted to the crime, telling detectives, "She killed me, so I killed her."“She killed me, so I killed her.”

That was the chilling confession a Texas man gave to cops last week after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend for telling him she was HIV-positive.

Larry Dunn, Jr., 36, told cops he snapped during a visit to the Dallas apartment of his new girlfriend, 28-year-old Cicely Bolden, on Thursday afternoon, WFAA-TV reported.

After the couple had sex, Dunn says Bolden revealed her HIV status.

Furious, he went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and stabbed her to death.

Neighbor Latoya Arnett said Bolden’s son and daughter, ages 7 and 8, came home from school around 3:30 p.m. and found their mother’s body.

 “They came out crying," she told the TV station. "I ran out to see what was wrong with them. They were saying, 'Something's wrong with mama!'"

Dunn told detectives he burned his clothes and the knife and tossed them in a dumpster at a Waffle House restaurant. Cops later retrieved the charred murder weapon.

Bolden’s two children are in the custody of the boy’s father, Jeff Busby, who said Bolden contracted HIV within the past two years.

The kids are "doing okay, but asking a lot of questions," Busby told WFAA.

Dunn is being held on $500,000 bond on a murder charge.

Paul Morton Attempts to Separate Church from HIV Reports 

There are reports that a minister is infecting women in the  Full Gospel Church in Atlanta congregation with HIV. Not only is he passing along a deadly disease but he is reportedly married as well which means he is also committing adultery. Since the story hit the media the pastor of the church has decided to speak out to try and separate himself and the congregation from the incident saying that he is not a minister there, but only the husband of his assistant and is not a member. This is what Straightfromthea reports:

The man he is speaking of is Craig Lamar Davis and while the Bishop attempts to separate himself from the chatter, he actually just made it a bit more interesting.

Morton admits that Craig is the husband of his assistant, but he states it’s not a Full Gospel problem.

Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton, who heads Full Gospel the church, recently issued a bit of clarification on the matter via the social networking site, twitter.

It’s been over twenty years since the public was introduced to Hydeia Broadbent, a gorgeous cherub-faced little girl who was born with AIDS and left by her mother at the Las Vegas hospital where she was born. It was the beginning of what would be an incredibly difficult and, at times, excruciating journey. Broadbent, whose adoptive parents took her in at six weeks old, was diagnosed with AIDS at age three, her family informed that she wasn’t expected to live past age five. Today, Broadbent is 28 years old, and she remains one of the most recognizable and esteemed faces of HIV/AIDS activism. A public speaker par excellence, whose work in social media and with universities and nonprofit organizations is both frank and endearing, Broadbent is a sought-after public figure who insights are deeply valued. But the role hasn’t been an easy one–especially financially. Broadbent has always been forthcoming about the precariousness of her financial state. The price of HIV/AIDS treatment, with its frequent tests and copious required medications, is exorbitant. Broadbent relies on government-funded medical benefits to cover the costs. 

She took to social media to ask for help to pay for her rent, citing her benefits caseworker’s oversight in not notifying her that her benefits were changing. It was a sudden and unexpected blow for a woman on an incredibly tight budget. Broadbent has rarely, if ever, solicited financial help from her supporters–and it pained her to have to do so now. Recently she tweeted: 

It took a lot for me to ask for help, I don’t like handouts but when it hits you that you might lose everything you humble yourself and ask for help 

After doing so, it would seem that her concern about going public with her need was founded, as she was met with what is becoming requisite for online interaction, cruelty and criticism: 

I caught some shade today for publicly asking for help. I could sit in silence and lose everything to no fault of my own or seek help. 

Despite the backlash, Broadbent’s public appeal has raised an important and often overlooked issue: only the incredibly wealthy are not financially depressed by the high cost of HIV/AIDS. Many sufferers experience the same challenges with juggling life expenses–including food and housing–while trying to make sure that they are able to cover their medical needs. Others have reached out to Broadbent since her initial postings on Facebook and Twitter, voicing both their support and their ability to relate.

Former Wrestler “Gangsta Of Love” Convicted Of Spreading HIV

A jury on Wednesday convicted a former professional wrestler of 14 felonious assault counts alleging he had sex with women without telling them he had tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS.
Hamilton County jurors deliberated over two days before returning the verdict against Andre Davis, of Cincinnati.


Prosecutors said the 29-year-old Davis, who wrestled using stage names including Gangsta of Love, Sweet Sexy Sensation and Andre Heart, violated state law by not telling a dozen sex partners about his HIV status or lying to them.


Davis’ attorney, Greg Cohen, told WLWT-TV he would appeal the verdict. He said the state law regarding HIV and felonious assault is poorly written because it doesn’t require proof that there has been “harm or an attempt to commit harm.”
All 12 of the women who accused Davis testified that they had unprotected sex with him and he either never told them or lied about HIV, which can be transmitted through unprotected sex. The judge, citing medical privacy laws, prohibited attorneys from bringing up whether any of the women was infected with the virus.
Prosecutor Amy Tranter told WLWT that the case involved a great deal of testimony and that jurors considered evidence “step by step.”


“It’s an important case,” she said. “It’s a serious case.”


Tranter had said in closing arguments that Davis should go to prison for a long time, saying the case was about his responsibility to tell the women his test results.
Cohen, the defense attorney, had suggested that Davis’ accusers were promiscuous by having unprotected sex and multiple partners. He also said that a company — not a doctor — told Davis that he was HIV-positive.

The Cincinnati Enquirer has reported that World Wrestling Entertainment told Davis in July 2009 that it wouldn’t hire him because he failed his physical and tested positive for HIV.
Davis’ attorney said earlier in the trial that he didn’t think prosecutors could prove that Davis has HIV.
Tranter said that state law requires those who test positive for HIV to inform their sex partners of that statuses and that she didn’t have to prove that Davis is HIV-positive.


Davis faces similar charges in Warren County, north of Cincinnati.

After 30 Years, The End Remains Elusive

June 2011 marked the 30th anniversary of the first clinical description of AIDS, a report that uncovered what would become one of history’s worst pandemics.
And now, 30 years later, the theme of World AIDS Day 2011 is “Getting to Zero”: zero new infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths.
“Heading into the fourth decade of AIDS, we are finally in a position to end the epidemic. The progress we have made so far is proof that we can realize our vision [of getting to zero],” said UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon in a press release for World AIDS Day.

Earlier this year, the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on AIDS created goals to reach by 2015: a 50% reduction in the sexual transmission of HIV, no new infections in children, antiretroviral therapy (ART) for 15 million people living with HIV, ending stigma and discrimination and closing the AIDS funding gap.
Although policymakers have echoed these optimistic sentiments, such as U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s vision for an AIDS-free generation, current data indicate that there still is much work to be done. Disparities in funding and the disproportionate impact of HIV among certain demographics and regions continue to plague those involved in the fight.

An estimated 2.7 million new infections occurred in 2010, which represented a 21% decrease in the incidence of HIV since 1997. However, new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that 1 in 5 people infected with HIV in the United States (approximately 240,000) are unaware that they have the virus.

The results of recent preexposure prophylaxis trials for HIV have provided a measure of hope in the prevention of new infections. But incidence rates high across certain geographic settings and patient types due to the stigma and discrimination that remain prevalent.
In 2010, an estimated 34 million people were living with HIV worldwide, a 17% increase since 2001. The increase is a direct result of both improved ART agents and patients’ access to care, which have led to HIV becoming a chronic, manageable condition for many patients.

The annual cost for HIV drugs also has significantly decreased over the past few years. Recent data from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief reported that the annual cost to cover a patient’s ART was $335 in 2011 compared with $1,100 in 2004.
But with the current economic downturn in the United States, both society and its elected officials may turn their attention and funding elsewhere.
But there certainly are many reasons for the current optimism being spread in anticipation of World AIDS Day 2011. For example, a 2009 report from the CDC showed that HIV no longer was one of the 15 leading causes of mortality in the United States.
With all of the renewed hope in the battle against HIV, the key is for society to continue its altruism and vigilance toward HIV despite this progress.

To coincide with tomorrow's World AIDS Day, the Centers for Disease Control has launched a new national campaign urging gay and bisexual black men to get tested.
You may already know that gay and bisexual men are the population most affected by HIV in the U.S. Black gay and bisexual men are getting hit particularly hard by the epidemic. Studies in major cities have found that, in those cities, nearly one in three black gay and bisexual men is infected with HIV, and the majority (59%) don’t even know it because they’ve never been tested or aren’t testing enough.

A Raleigh, N.C., man has been charged with a public health violation for allegedly having unprotected sex and not revealing to his partner that he has HIV, reports local station WTVD 11.

If convicted, John Conway Hart, 27, could face up to four months in jail and be subjected to a medical quarantine.

While she declined to comment specifically on this case, Wake County health director Sue Lynn Ledford said she preferred education to prosecution. “This is an extreme last measure for us, an extreme last measure for us,” she explained. “This is the very last thing that we would look to do and we would, we would try everything else first.”

A sexual partner of Hart’s went to police after finding out after the fact about Hart’s HIV status.
