PRAYERS ARE IN ORDER! Boxing great Joe Frazier in serious condition with liver cancer
During his boxing career, Leslie Wolff said Joe Frazier never stopped fighting.
And Wolff said he has no reason to think he'll stop now.
On Saturday afternoon, it was confirmed that the former heavyweight champion and Philadelphia boxing icon was in serious condition after being diagnosed with liver cancer.

"We're looking for some miracles," said Wolff, Frazier's business manager. "When you're dealing with the Big C, it's not an easy thing to deal with."
The 67-year-old Frazier was diagnosed a month ago and is currently in hospice care in Philadelphia. He was living in a Center City apartment complex.
"He's under medical care, getting his treatments that hopefully will help," said Wolff. "It's extremely serious, I'm asking everyone to pray for him."

In a career that sprawled almost 20 years, Frazier recorded a 32-4-1 record. He went on to win two heavyweight titles, while facing off against the likes of Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Jerry Quarry.
He's best known for his series of bouts with Ali during the 1970's.

Frazier won their first meeting in 1971 at Madison Square Garden by decision. It was billed "The Fight of the Century" and an estimated 300 million people worldwide tuned into the fight via closed-circuit television.

A former city police officer, Hand had bought a share of stock in Cloverlay Inc., a group formed by Philadelphia businessmen to help propel Frazier's career. Now the owner of the world's largest distributor of closed-circuit boxing matches, Hand said he owes the whole thing to Frazier.
"If it wasn't for Joe Frazier, I'd probably be a retired policeman sitting in Wildwood someplace," said Hand. "I owe it all to Joe.
Wolff recalled Frazier being an athlete who doesn't have an ego.
If he was scheduled for an autograph signing for one hour, he'd stay for five. When fans would rush toward Frazier, he'd tell his handlers to let it be.

"He didn't have an ego, he didn't think he was better than anyone else," said Wolff. "He just thought he worked hard and in my mind he's one of the finest role models I had ever seen."
In the ring, Frazier was as tough as any. Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield said Frazier was someone he looked up to as he idolized what he called "the Joe Frazier style."
"He would put that relentless pressure on guys," said Holyfield, who also won Olympic Gold. "He wouldn't give up and he was able to take your shot and put something on you."

And promoting Frazier was an easy task. Bill Caplan, who promoted Frazier's 1976 rematch with Foreman, said the fighter was up for anything.
To coincide with the Bicentennial, Caplan had asked Frazier to wear a Ben Franklin costume for a television spot. Not a problem.
"Whatever we wanted to do within reason, he would do it," said Caplan. "I just remember shooting the commercials and he was a lot of fun to work with."
Wolff said that along with a feature full-length movie on Frazier's life, they are working with the city on a statue of the boxer.

The Italian-American ex-girlfriend of Mutassim Gaddafi has been fired from her lucrative role as the face of an international telecommunications company for speaking about her passionate love affair with the Libyan dictator's son.
23-year-old model Vanessa Hessler, who spent much of her childhood in Washington, DC, told Italian magazine Diva e Donna that she had spent four years with Mutassim Gaddafi and that their relationship had been a 'very beautiful love story.'
The 34-year-old died with his father outside the city of Sirte on October 21, bringing to an end Muammar Gaddafi's 42-year regime.
The blonde model, who was born in Italy, said in the interview: 'I didn't have any contact with him since the uprising broke out, but our relationship was one of passion.'
Ms Hessler, who has appeared in campaigns for Georgio Armani, Calvin Klein and L'Oreal and has acted in several Italian TV shows, went on to say that she feels for the people of Libya.

Chillingly at odds with the playboy image of the leader's son, his bruised and bloody body was moved to a makeshift morgue in Misrata where it lay for public viewing until an unceremonious dawn burial in an unmarked grave on October 25.

A spokesman for the company wrote on Twitter: 'Vanessa Hessler’s relationships are private business. However we cannot accept her comments on the Lybia [sic] conflict.'
Ms Hessler had been a household figure in Germany, France and Italy, where she is publicly known as 'Alice,' after gracing TV and billboard advertisements as the face of the multinational's Alice internet service.

Fans on the model's Facebook page seemed undeterred by her support of the dictator's family, heaping praise on her for 'speaking honestly' and 'standing up for her beliefs.'
Many users, however, echo Telefonica's position, weighing in with their criticism of the model's poorly judged comments.
One, Lance VanOvermeiren, said: 'This man and his family murdered hundreds of thousands of people... disgusting...'

*Two of Michael Jackson’s siblings say they tried to intervene to prevent his drug abuse but could not get close to their brother because of his security team.
Tito and Rebbie Jackson said Tuesday the family was aware of Michael’s drug problem, reports the AP. Tito Jackson says his late brother’s security team acted as if he was the President of the United States and kept his entire family away. He says he got into physical fights with security personnel and was sometimes barred from his brother’s gated property.
The two Jacksons are in London to promote Wednesday’s premiere of a documentary about his life.
Their mother Katherine Jackson canceled her trip to London to attend the final days of the Los Angeles trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, accused of manslaughter in the pop star’s death.

He also said his doctors tested him for cancer, diabetes, HIV and more, but the tests revealed he is 'totally healthy.'

Last month the internet was abuzz with rumours he had died after the news broke that he had been hospitalized due to the serious seizures.
Ross, 35, was hospitalized twice for seizures as he tried to travel to Memphis for a show which he ended up never performing.
Ross was taken to an Alabama hospital after losing consciousness mid flight, again according to TMZ.
He suffered another episode yesterday on a flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Memphis, which had to be diverted.
His entourage jumped out of their seats to alert plane personnel - at which point a doctor on board administered CPR on the rapper.
The plane immediately made an emergency landing.
However, after being rushed to hospital, Ross was later released and reported to be '100% okay,' and even tweeted from the airport, writing: 'Memphis here I come.'
He then posted a video of himself boarding the private jet and a message to fans promoting his forthcoming album.

The “Lemonade” rapper appeared in court on Friday and was denied a reduction in his jail sentence stemming from an incident back in January when he pushed a woman out of his vehicle after she declined his offer to pay her for sex.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Davis’ attorneys attempted to get his sentence cut in half by offering to have the 31-year-old emcee stage a concert on behalf of the DeKalb County Battered Women’s Shelter.

The Black Eyed Peas have won a long running legal battle over their hit track Boom Boom Pow.
The band was issued with a lawsuit last year (10) from musician Phoenix Phenom, who alleged the 2009 track used parts of her song Boom Dynamite, which she claims to have submitted to the Black Eyed Peas' Interscope Records label.
Phenom - real name Ebony Latrice Batts - and her associate Manfred Mohr filed suit, accusing the group of copyright infringement, and the case went to court in California last week (ends23Oct11).
