Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson Named First ‘R&B Hall Of Fame’ Inductees

Much to R&B lovers delight, a recent press release confirms that Cleveland, Ohio will be home to the first induction ceremony of the R&B Music Hall Of Fame  – a newly designed museum to include “state-of-the-art, highly interactive, virtual reality experience” to honor popular music’s legendary R&B artists.

Like its ‘Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’ counterpart, its inductees will include artists who have made considerable impact on the genre as it relates to its evolution and incorporation into mainstream music.

First up?  None more fitting than the late, great icons Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston…

Via press release:

 “The class of  the 2013 induction includes Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, James Brown, The Temptations, Otis Redding, The O’Jays, Dick Clark, Gerald Levert, Aretha Franklin…”

The aforementioned are just a few of the 25 names unveiled as the facility’s inaugural class.  And, while many of them are already inductees into the ‘Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’, the measure still speaks to these ever-expansive impact over several genres of music.

After the May 5, 2013 induction ceremony in Cleveland, it is said the R&B Hall of Fame will unveil what city has been chosen to be its permanent home.  Until then, fans can click here to see which 25 acts made the cut of the Hall’s first inductees.

Another testament to the fact that greatness lives on forever…

Rihanna Gets $8 Million to Turn On Christmas Lights

The ‘We Found Love’ singer Rihanna was offered $8 Million to turn on some Christmas Lights at a London mall.  Tell me how can I get a job like that!!

A source with insider knowledge of Westfield mall in East London said:

 “Rihanna’s thrilled. She knows it’s a big deal and is totally up for it – if it fits in with her schedule. Westfield have had a great year due to the Olympics and want to fork out to celebrate. Even though the final contract is still being thrashed out, they’re prepared to pay up to £5 million for her. They are expecting around 20,000 people to swamp the park.”

In return for the big payday, Rih will also be obligated to perform a mini concert for more than 20 thousand people who are expected to attend the annual event.

DJ Drama Says He Wants To See T.I. Help End Rick Ross & Jeezy Beef 

In a recent interview with ThisIs50.com, DJ Drama speaks on the ongoing and re-established beef between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy. Drama, who has worked with both artists says that he would like the help of fellow ATLien to help mediate the situation. Continue on to check out the video.

Around the 2:18 minute mark DJ Drama recounts that faithful day backstage at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards when Ross and Jeezy ran into each other. He explains that from what he saw, Ross and Jeezy never touched eachother and that most of the pushing and shoving was done by security.

Drama says that he’d like to see T.I. step in and try to help Jeezy and Ross get past their animosity.

Lil Wayne Says He Doesn't Listen To Fabolous' Music

In a recent interview with Lil Wayne, MTV asked Lil Wayne if he thought his comment about not liking New York would create such a frenzy with the public as well as New Yorkers in general. The interviewer even asked Weezy if he's heard Fabolous' joint titled "So New York" where the Brooklyn bred rapper claims he's so New York Weezy probably doesn't like him. 

Lil Wayne responded he's been hard at work in the studio and that he really doesn't have the time to focus on what people are saying about him. Lil Wayne also admits to the fact that he hasn't listened to Fabolous' song. In fact, Lil Wayne says he doesn't listen to anyone's music but his own!! Go figure!!

Ne-Yo Parties IT UP For His SURPRISE 30th BIRTHDAY PARTY With Fabolous, Emily B. & Estelle

Ne-Yo celebrated his 30th birthday in New York City last night with his celeb friends Fabolous, Emily B. & Estelle. 

Compound Ent. and Malibu RED threw a surprise party for superstar Ne-Yo at NYC hotspot ACME.   He was presented with a birthday cake to celebrate turning the big 3-0, and it featured artwork from his upcoming R.E.D. disc.

He partied with friends like Estelle, Bridgett Kelly and Tyson Beckford. 

Rapper Fabolous attended with long-time girlfriend and reality star Emily B.  Guess these two are still going strong.

Dr. Dre is killing the headphone game right now. Dre and Jimmy Iovine had a private 50 person dinner at the Darby in New York to celebrate Dre’s new Executive headphones. Singer Skylar Grey gave a surprise performance before the crowd moved downstairs to party. 

Iovine and Dre, who has a grip on the high-end headphone market, took over a VIP area with Russell Simmons, Ne-Yo, Rita Ora and club gurus Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano. DJ Cassidy got guests dancing by mixing West Coast rap and New York hip- hop while others tried out the headphones…

As she preps for the launch of her Woman to Woman disc, Keyshia Cole will also be launching a shoe collection with Steve Madden next month.  She talked to Power 105.1 FM's The Breakfast Club about the shoes,  

 “I’ve been talking about this Steven Madden deal for about four years now. I wanted to do a deal with Steven Madden because, when I didn’t have any money and before I got my deal, I use to buy Steve Madden shoes. So I just want to make sure that I do really cute shoes that my demographic can afford. [The shoes will debut in] November. I’ve already made all three and they will be featured in my videos and in the album packaging.”

Keyshia wore a pair of multi-colored shoes with pink soles (from the collection) earlier this week on "106 & Park" and also tweeted a pair of red platforms with a heart.  In addition to shoes, fans can find out more about Keyshia and her life on Tuesdays when BET airs “Keyshia & Daniel: Family First” at 10ET.

This is an interesting topic it seems like “Mona” was reading my mind about a reality show featuring bloggers, Anyway the cast revealed may or may not bring the drama and ratchetness we are used to from Mona Scott however still interesting.

Sharon Carpenter (Global Grind) Kim Osorio (known mainly for Source Magazine and a book about industry secrets exposed) and JasFly from Vibe. We believe more will be announced.

We also hear that Sandra Rose was asked but she did refuse and Thank God she did..I don’t like Sandra Rose!

Witnesses said the singer leapt onstage, much to the delight of a crowd that included Naomi Watts, Shaun White, Tony Bennett and the Target dog, Bullseye. “It’s such an honor to be here,” Keys said, before launching into her rendition of “Happy Birthday.” She then abruptly left without performing anything from her own catalogue. Guests beelined to the doors in disappointment.

Hot Shots: Kelly Rowland Shoots ‘Ice’ Video

For, despite debuting her latest single ‘Ice’ way back in July (with no major promo push…yet), the sensual cut has enjoyed a steady ascend and is now blazing Urban radio. A fact which makes the filming of its accompanying video yesterday arrive right on time.

Chris Brown has added more artistic ink to his tattoo resume. His newest addition is an over-sized tattoo, located on the front of his neck. He shared the photo on twitter writing:

If you're a fan of C-Breezy, you know that he's no newcomer to ink. Reportedly, he has six tatts (although I'm sure there are some we're unaware of) that include a 'C' on his upperarm, an evil clown-faced spray paint can, music notes, the words 'Darkness to Light', A skull with a halo above and stars (like Rihanna). However, coming off her last outing, one has to question if she can go “go ghost” when shoppers went all sorts of “Casper” on her when ‘Basic Instinct’ dropped.

We feel she’s about to bring the heat. She and her team just needs to remind everyone of that too.

Kim Zolciak Is Pregnant AGAIN!

Reality star Kim Zolciak may be aiming for a season two of her spinoff "Don't Be Tardy For The Wedding" (debuting April 26) as she has announced that she's four months pregnant!
She confirmed the news to "Life & Style" saying, "Kroy and I are so excited. To decide we wanted to get pregnant again and have it happen so quickly was such a blessing."

You may remember that Kim recently gave birth to she and Kroy's first child, 10-month old son Kroy Jagger (KJ) Jr., last May. And they are also the parents of Kim's daughters, Brielle, 15, and Ariana, 9, from a previous marriage.

Though a baby boy would balance out the sexes among the kids, Kim said she doesn't know the sex. "People are going to be shocked, because nobody knows...I'm so that KJ will have a little buddy."

Allen Iverson’s Estranged Wife Tawanna Wants a List of All of the Women He’s Had Sex With

It must really suck to be Allen Iverson right now.
The former NBA star’s estranged wife Tawanna Iverson (who is currently in the middle of divorcing him) has filed court documents requesting him to ”give the name and telephone number of every person other than your spouse whom you have had sexual relations and/or intimate physical contact from the date of the marriage to the date of trial.”
But that’s not all!

According to TMZ, Tawanna is also asking to see all of Iverson’s financial info, as well as any purchases he’s made over $1,000 since they got hitched.
She has previously claimed Allen has been spending money on himself … leaving her and their five kids hard up for cash.
Well damn. Wonder what A.I. has to say about all of this? If he’s smart … nothing at all.

Now they're friends again: Jason wipes his hands of reality television
She fired back at him branding his comments 'careless' earlier this month.
But during an appearance on The Today Show this week, 41-year-old Hamm firmly stood by his remarks.
When asked about the matter by host Matt Lauer, Hamm responded: 'I don’t think [my comments] were careless. I think they were accurate.'
He pulled no punches as he made another attack on the culture of reality television.
'It’s a part of our culture that I certainly don’t identify with, and I don’t really understand the appeal of it other than in a sort of car crash sensibility,' he said.
'And it’s not something that I partake in or enjoy, but it is what is and here we are.'
He told GQ: 'You see that and you think, "What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f***ing idiot on television and then you'll pay me millions?"

'I'm not judging it. Well, I am, obviously.'
Kim's mother Kris Jenner retaliated, saying: 'It's not made him look like the world's nicest guy. The right thing for a real man to do now would be to issue a public apology.

And actor Jonah Hill also lashed out at Kim and her family last year.
Hill said that while he often finds himself watching one of their shows, he finds it 'disgusting' that they earn better ratings than higher quality scripted shows.
The 27-year-old said: 'The truth of it is, I have friends who work in TV and the Kardashians get higher ratings than their TV shows. Shows that people actually work hard on - writing and creating and trying to tell stories.
'The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting.
'It's a super disgusting part of our culture, but I still find it funny to make a joke about it.
'Whenever I say I like reality TV, people write about it like they're in shock.
'I can't even understand it, so I watch it,' he told The Huffington Post.
'I think it's funny and I definitely enjoy it in a making-fun-of-it sort of way, but where does the line sort of end? When do I stop making fun of it and become an actual fan?'
He added: 'The Kardashians are as famous as our president. What does that tell you about how skewed our society is?'

Chrissy Lampkin Speaks On Pregnancy Rumors

Around the time “Love and Hip Hop” wrapped it’s reunion there were rumors nearly half the cast was pregnant. Kimbella confirmed hers, Yandy still hasn’t said a word, and now Chrissy has finally spoken on whether her and Jimmy have a little bun in the oven.

Today, she uploaded this twitpic saying:
“By the way that’s my sonogram…… Now you know !!!!!!!”

Before you click, don’t get too excited…the “sonogram” is really a pic of two empty martini glasses, meaning if she’s drinking there’s no baby kicking.
A source supposedly told XXL back in February that Jim and Chrissy have been trying to make a family for years unsuccessfully, adding:

“Jim and [Chrissy] had basically given up… they were like if it happens, it happens.”
For now it looks like it’s not happening and Chrissy’s OK with that.
So, so far we have one confirmed yes and one confirmed no on the “Love and Hip Hop” baby bump watch. I wonder what Yandy’s answer will be?

Tyga and Crew Shot At Following Concert in Nebraska; Female Rapper Honey Cocaine Wounded

Tyga and his entourage ran into trouble last night at their concert in Omaha, Nebraska.
During the “Rack City” rapper’s performance at Sokol Auditorium, several items were thrown onstage by a few concertgoers in the crowd.

Tyga later confronted the hecklers and told them “meet me outside” following the concert.

Well … things took a turn for the worst after the show and gun shots were fired at the rapper’s tour bus.
Tyga’s artist, female rapper Honey Cocaine, was struck by a bullet and later tweeted about the incident.

The Situation has a new situation….REHAB!

He is often seen drinking and partying excessively with his Jersey Shore cast mates on their reality TV show.
But it appears the party is over for now for Mike The Situation Sorrentino who is in rehab for substance abuse according to reports.
The 29-year-old is said to be in an inpatient treatment facility, according to TMZ.

A source told the website that Mike: ‘has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule.’

Radaronline are reporting that the reality star is not being treated for substance abuse - instead saying he is simply resting up ahead of the next series.

Yesterday it emerged that Jersey Shore will return for a sixth season – despite the fact Nicole Snooki Polizzi is pregnant. 

Mike found fame on the reality show in 2009 and has since enjoyed several TV appearances on chat shows as well as being paid to attend nightclubs and events.

But while Mike is said to be in rehab there have still been a series of tweets posted to his social networking page that reveal he is getting in shape for the upcoming show.
One post today read: ‘Getting in amazing shape for season 6!’
In a statement about the sixth series of the show MTV said: 'While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same.'

The series will begin filming this summer in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

So while the world is talking about, “Oh my God, I can’t believe Nicki Minaj was at the Super Bowl!” I’m mixing and mastering my music. In my scheme of things it’s way bigger.

You’re on track to hit all your marks in 2012. Grammy solo set? Check. New album and tour? Check, check. Five million in sales? Possibly. What else?
I’m working on my fragrance and my apparel line. They took stuff that I’ve worn, focused on what I like, and then they started doing sketches. They’re pretty amazing. I was like “Oh my God, the kids are going to love this.” It’s not gonna get done overnight, but I know that it’s something they’re going to love.

 

What’s your off-stage persona?
I’m the biggest homebody. But I’ve been like this. Nothing about me has changed since I got fame. I never liked to go to clubs. I never liked to go out. I don’t know where that public craziness came from. I was always like a comedian to my friends and family, but in a lot of ways I’m shy. I think people read my shyness as being mean. They misinterpret it. The first and only person who ever called me out for being shy was Wayne.
I always got a kick out of the endless debates over who was managing you. I’ve known you through three sets of managers [Deb Antney, Puffy and James Cruz, and Hip Hop Since 1978] and in every case, it was always clear that...Little do they know, I manage myself.

Yes. You were always the first and last word.
Right. People assume that I am not the brains behind this operation, and they don’t give me my credit. I could give two fucks about credit. I just want you to leave me the fuck alone. Let me do me. Don’t tell me how to pose; I know how to pose. When I’m recording, I just have to go in and do it, you know? Even my engineer thinks I’m crazy because I’ll hear something different on a track, and he’ll insist, “No, no, nothing was moved.” [But I tell him] “Tony, something was moved.” And later, sure enough, “You were right, there was a two-second delay here.”

Do you always feel like the smartest person in the room?
I meet people that are smart every day. I love collaborating with creative people. I’m not walking around saying I know everything. Hell fucking no. I want to build something. I just don’t allow anyone around me who drops the ball constantly. I’ve never been happier with my current management, because Gee Roberson is such an intelligent man. I learn from him every day, and I’m very, very turned on by people that I learn from. Not sexually—I just love being enlightened. All artists should want to learn the business as they go along. If you’re in this shit, talking about how you just want to be an artist, you’re fucking stupid. It makes me cringe.
If I wasn’t doing it, I wouldn’t believe it’s possible. I remember when I was working with Jay-Z. It was like, “Oh my God. Did I really just do a song with Jay?” I worked with Mariah and it wasn’t commercially successful. But I had fun and I made a real friendship with her. It was, obviously, a life-changing moment for me. It does feel like every moment is getting bigger and bigger. Not only did I get a call to do a song with Madonna, but then I got a call to do a video with Madonna, and then—oh, by the way—you’re going to do the Super Bowl with Madonna. This is not really happening.

Arrest Warrant Issued for Michael Misick

British investigators looking into corruption allegations in the Turks and Caicos Islands have issued an Interpol arrest warrant for former Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick.

Thirteen individuals including four former government ministers already have been formally charged in court with taking millions of dollars to fraudulently distribute government land and giving access to developers. The arrest and charges are part of an ongoing investigation by the Special Investigation and Prosecution Team (SIPT). Next month, the Turks and Caicos Supreme Court is scheduled to decide whether there is sufficient evidence for a trial to proceed.

“For the past several months the SIPT has sought to secure the attendance of Mr Misick at its offices in Providenciales in respect of allegations of corruption and money laundering during his time in office,” the investigation team said in a statement Monday. “Every opportunity has been given to Mr Misick to voluntarily surrender to the SIPT’s jurisdiction for interview. Despite previous indications from Mr. Misick’s solicitors that he would attend for interview, he has failed to do so.”

“That’s my childhood sweetheart. We met when we were 11; that’s when we first met. Then we got together when we were 18. So he’s really, like, all I’ve ever known.”

ON DMX VERSUS EARL (X’S REAL NAME):
“No, but guess what, I love Earl. You know what I mean? Because Earl is who I met; that’s who I fell in love with…he definitely has different personalities.”

“He definitely is bipolar. He switches up so much, but it’s like when I met him, he was Earl. And as he came into this industry, I’ve seen him turn into X and now it just got full blown. And it’s like, you already know, this industry is just so crazy. Now Earl is just…and it’s like, that’s who I’ve been holding onto for so long.”

On hitting a low in her career
It got pretty low for me. I started to have a lot of emotional turmoil with my mental state of mind and my body ’cause I was exhausted.

People don’t really understand what an artist really has to go through. It’s such an intense schedule; one day I’m in L.A., the next day I’m in Switzerland, the next day I’m in Italy and the next day I’m back in L.A. Mind you, I’m performing in that time in between, I’m meeting people, I’m talking and, you know, I’m on a different schedule. I

came back off of the Alicia Keys tour, and I just hit the wall. Like, straight-up, I hit the wall. I crashed; I said to my team, ‘I’m no good to anyone right now. I need to recover,’ and it really affected my confidence level in my approach to my job, my mind when it came to everything around me. I started to victimize myself in a way and it’s because when your body is not healthy, it really does produce negative emotions and energy and so.

On her very first heartbreak
The first cut is the deepest. I had a boyfriend when I was 16 and he was a jerk, but I loved him. It was before I put out my first album, when I was recording the first album, and it was right after I got off the Kanye West [Glow In The Dark] tour in 2008, and I was devastated. I was absolutely devastated because that was like the first crazy-stupid love I’ve ever been in my quote-unquote adult life. I actually made the decision to end it because I decided that I had gone back and forth enough.

On her career vs. newer artists’ career
My team and I worked so, so much harder than artists now. [They are] like, ‘Hey, I’m a superstar. I’m gonna make a YouTube video, and it’s gonna get eight gazillion views, and I’m gonna be famous, and I’m gonna end up on every TV show!’ Meanwhile, I’m busting my ass just to get spoken about on radio and television. I appreciate the process I went through to be honest, and I actually feel bad for the people who don’t have to go through that process because they get hit with a harder blow when it doesn’t work. I think that they create the one-hit wonder phenomenon rather than the career artist.

Keith Sweat Sued by Bank for $250,000 on Foreclosed Home

Keith Sweat just can’t catch a break!
In addition to a foreclosure on his Detroit home, the “Make It Last Forever” singer is also being sued for $250,000. (Dayummmmm son!)
R&B singer Keith Sweat is singing the foreclosure blues … because even after the bank took his house and sold it … he’s still on the hook for $250,000 — this according to a new lawsuit.

PMI Mortgage filed the lawsuit against Sweat in Georgia — claiming the singer defaulted on a $450,000 mortgage on his Detroit home, which he purchased in 2004.
Problem is — the house was drowning underwater … so when the bank sold it, it only recouped $200,000 … a fraction of its losses.
PMI Mortgage sued Sweat for the balance — $253,000 — and since Keith failed to respond, a judge ruled in PMI’s favor. PMI has since sought a lien on Keith’s Georgia property in a last ditch effort to get its money.

Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad and Jill Scott star in the Lifetime remake of the 1989 film Steel Magnolias...

Queen Latifah will play M'Lynn, the role originated by Sally Field, Phylicia Rashad will play Olivia Dukakis' character, Clairee. Phylicia Rashads's daughter Condola will play Shelby, the diabetes stricken daughter of M'Lynn. Jill Scott was cast as Truvee, the hairdresser played by Dolly Parton in the original and Alfre Woodard will take on Shirley MacLaine's character Ousiser. Pariah star Adepero Oduye will play Annelle, originally played by Darrly Hannah.
