And the CQQNERY Continues: Cornel West: Obama is a ‘Global George Zimmerman’
I suppose Cornel West just couldn’t help himself.
One day after his sidekick, Tavis Smiley, ripped President Barack Obama on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” West called Obama a “global George Zimmerman” during a rambling critique where West accused Obama of being hypocritical in his response to the Travyon Martin killing and George Zimmerman’s acquittal.
“We know anybody who tries to rationalize the killing of innocent people is a criminal,” West said in an interview with Democracy Now. “George Zimmerman is a criminal, but President Obama is a global George Zimmerman because he tries to rationalize the killing of innocent children, 221 so far, in the name of self-defense… Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen. So when he comes to talk about the killing of an innocent person, you say, well wait a minute, what kind of moral authority are you bringing?”
West, an outspoken professor at PrincetonUniversity who has joined Smiley in ambushing Obama at every opportunity, says the Obama administration refuses to speak out against an American justice system that has destroyed two generations of black men and has contributed to what West calls “re-niggerizing” the black professional class.
“Five years in office and can’t say a word about a new Jim Crow,” West said. “And at the same time I think we have to recognize that he has been able to hide and conceal that criminalizing of the black poor as what I call the re-niggerizing of the black professional class.”
Responding to Obama’s comment last week, “Trayvon Martin could have me 35 years ago,” West said: “You got these black leaders on the Obama Plantation, won’t say a criminal word about the master in the big house. Will only try to tame the field folk so that they’re not critical of the master in the big house.”
West is continuing his assault on Obama. In January, during Obama’s second inaugural ceremony, West criticized Obama for using Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Bible, calling Obama a “war criminal.”
West’s anger can be traced back to Obama’s 2009 inauguration where West said he couldn’t get tickets for the inauguration. He was also upset that Obama never called him.
“He doesn’t have time, even two seconds, to say thank you or I’m glad you’re pulling for me and praying for me, but he’s calling these other people. I said, this is very interesting,” West said in 2011 interview. “And then as it turns out with the Inauguration, I couldn’t get a ticket with my mother and my brother. I said this is very strange.”
What’s strange is how quickly West and Smiley turned on America’s first black president in such a hateful way, a man they praised repeatedly when I watched them at HowardUniversity when Obama was running for election in 2008. Back then, they couldn’t get enough of Obama. They posed for photos with him, showed up at many of Obama’s events, and hailed him as America’s next great leader.
And then, suddenly, it got ugly. Obama didn’t attend Smiley’s “State of the Black Union” conference in 2008 because he was campaigning for the White House and five years later, Smiley still can’t let it go.
On Sunday, during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Smiley said Obama’s remarks about race last week were too little, too late and “as weak as pre-sweetened Kool-Aid.”
“I appreciate and applaud the fact that the president did finally show up,” Smiley said. “But this town has been spinning a story that’s not altogether true. He did not walk to the podium for an impromptu address to the nation. He was pushed to that podium. A week of protests outside the White House, pressure building on him inside the White House, pushed him to that podium.”
Obama’s remarks last week weren’t meant as a definitive speech on race or to facilitate a national discussion. It was specific: Obama, for the first time in his presidency, used his White House bully pulpit to stand with black men all across America and share their collective pain of racism.
“There are very few African American men who haven’t had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars,” Obama said. “That happens to me — at least before I was a senator. There are very few African Americans who haven’t had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off. That happens often.”
I guess Smiley and West only listen to each other.
Paula Deen ADMITS To USING "N" Word, Accused Of Making BLACK Workers Use SEPARATE Entrances & Restrooms!
America's butter-loving southern queen Paula Deen is embroiled in a little bit of controversy over her use of the "N" word. Charges of racism are being flung at Southern-chef Paula Deen after The National Enquirer published passages from a video of a deposition where Paula admitted to using the N-word and making racist and anti-Semitic jokes.
According to the Huffington Post, the deposition was held on May 17 as part of a court case brought forth by former Paula Deen Enterprises employee Lisa Jackson against Deen and her brother, Earl “Bubba” Hiers. In the suit, Lisa claimed there were several instances of sexual and racial workplace discrimination.
In one particularly salacious story from the deposition, Lisa was asked to plan a wedding for Paula's son Bubba. Lisa claims Paula said she wanted to do a slave-style wedding. No, really....she did. Paula's words:
"I want a true Southern -plantation style wedding. Well what I would really like is a bunch of little niggers to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties, you know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around. Now that would be a true Southern wedding wouldn't it?"
The deposition goes on to claim that Black workers at "Uncle Bubba's Restaurant" were required to use the BACK entrance to pick up their checks, and were all required to use the same bathroom at the BACK of the restaurant (while white employees could use the customer's restrooms). Also, Blacks employees who worked in the back of the restaurant were not allow to go to the front of the restaurant.
Elsewhere in the deposition, Lisa goes on the quote Bubba saying things like, "I wish I could put all those niggers (in the kitchen) on a boat back to Africa)." And, he allegedly said, "They should send President Obama to the oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico so he could nigger-rig it."
When asked by lawyers about Lisa's claims, here are direct passages from the interview.
On using the N-word:
Lawyer: Have you ever used the N-word yourself?
Deen: Yes, of course.
Lawyer: Okay. In what context?
Deen: Well, it was probably when a black man burst into the bank that I was working at and put a gun to my head.
Lawyer: Okay. And what did you say?
Deen: Well, I don't remember, but the gun was dancing all around my temple ... I didn't -- I didn't feel real favorable towards him.
Lawyer: Okay. Well, did you use the N-word to him as he pointed a gun in your head at your face?
Deen: Absolutely not.
Lawyer: Well, then, when did you use it?
Deen: Probably in telling my husband.
And on her brother's behavior:
Lawyer: Are you aware of Mr. Hiers admitting that he engaged in racially and sexually inappropriate behavior in the workplace?
Deen: I guess
Lawyer: Okay. Well, have you done anything about what you heard him admit to doing?
Deen: My brother and I have had conversations. My brother is not a bad person. Do humans behave inappropriately? At times, yes. I don't know one person that has not. My brother is a good man. Have we told jokes? Have we said things that we should not have said, that -- yes, we all have. We all have done that, every one of us.
For her part, Paula Deen's lawyer defended her in a carfefully worded statement that did not deny what was revealed in the deposition.
"Contrary to media reports, Ms. Deen does not condone or find the use of racial epithets acceptable. She is looking forward to her day in court."
Sometimes we wish we didn't know the things we know about celebs. Especially idiotic statements like this. And no, we're not giving her points for being "truthful." She and her brothers seem to "miss" the days of the ole South. And we're going to have to MISS her mac & cheese recipes that were damn good. Too bad so sad....

Eric Williams, formerly of “Basketball Wives,” used his 140 characters to share his views on homosexuality and church. Mostly two of the most hot-button topics ever, Eric didn’t seem influenced by the popular opinion. While polls show that more than half of Americans now support gay marriage, Eric discouraged acceptance of the “lifestyle.”

Aaliyah Music Court Battle
Aaliyah’s been dead nearly 12 years but a music publisher is still fighting over the rights to her songs, suing a record company for allegedly hawking bootleg Aaliyah jams on the Internet.
Reservoir Media Management filed the lawsuit against a company called Craze Productions, claiming Craze has been illegally selling songs from Aaliyah’s double-platinum albums “Aaliyah” and “One in a Million” on iTunes.
Reservoir claims it’s the sole owner of the songs in question acquiring the music rights in 2012 … and it never gave Craze permission to sell the music.
Reservoir wants a judge to block Craze from peddling any more Aaliyah music and it wants $$$.

Heath Ledger's Family Releases T-Shirt For Charity
It has been five years since Heath Ledger's untimely death, and now his family has put a t-shirt with the late actor’s image on sale for charity.
The tee, which features a photo of the “Dark Knight” actor taken by photographer Ben Watts in 2004, shows the Oscar winner holding a skateboard in Los Angeles.
Recalling the shoot, the photographer commented, "Heath loved skateboarding and wanted to do a shoot he enjoyed.”
This is the first piece of merchandise that Ledger’s family and his estate has approved for sale, and will be available for $110 online for a limited time.
All proceeds from the sale will go to a scholarship fund set up in Heath’s name and to his favorite charitable organizations

Baauer Apologizes to Harlem For Viral Sensation “Harlem Shake”
If you haven’t been under a rock in the past few months you’ve for sure came across the new rendition of the “Harlem Shake” performed by DJ Baauer. It’s been the #1 song in the U.S. and has become a viral sensation that’s even been mentioned by the likes of MSNBC.
The “dance” however has seen its fare share of controversy.
Most coming from outraged Harlem residents who feel that the new dance craze exploits the Hip-Hop culture and makes a mockery of the original “Harlem Shake” dance that originated from it. After weeks of backlash an apology letter from Baauer himself has surfaced.

I’m sorry so much of the world thinks you dress up in fuzzy animal suits and superhero costumes and do a weird dance that you don’t do because of a song I made.
I didn’t mean for any of this to happen, I swear. I was just trying to make a goofy dance song—like Yello’s “Oh Yeah,” from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, remember that one? Like that. And besides the zipper synths and growling lions and whatnot, I needed a catchy snippet for the hook. So I sampled the part of Plastic Little’s “Miller Time” where dude says, “I’ll punch you in your face/And do the Harlem Shake.” It’s not that great of a song or anything. And they’re not even from Harlem, those guys, they’re from Philadelphia, like me. I just needed something to plug in there, and that part fit with what I was doing.
I feel really bad about everything’s that’s come of it since—the kids from Australia making that video, then all those Internet nerds, then seemingly everyone else on the planet, following along, getting in the spirit, making their own version like a bunch of lemmings jumping into a fjord in Norway. (Hey! There’s an idea! A Harlem Shake video where everyone’s dressed like lemmings, and they dance right off a cliff!) Did you see the one the fucking Mitch McConnell’s campaign staff made? If not, don’t look it up. It’s… it’s not good.
And I feel even worse seeing as how there already was a dance called the Harlem Shake—a real one, a pretty cool one, too, that had actually originated in Harlem and stuff, that G. Dep and them did in that video back in 2001. G. Dep’s Child of the Ghetto album, by the way? Totally underrated. Excellent album, front to back. That’s sad what happened, with him turning himself in for the murder from 20 years ago and all. But that was a stand-up thing that he did.
Anyway, like I said, sorry. It was an accident.

Evelyn Lozada sends ex-husband Chad Johnson a cease and desist letter after he posts 'harassing' tweets claiming infidelity
Evelyn Lozada has sent a cease and desist letter to her ex-husband Chad Johnson.
The message was in response to a series of tweets the football star made on Thursday claiming that his former wife had committed adultery during their brief marriage.
According to TMZ, the warning was sent by Evelyn's attorney the same day as the remarks were made, asking Chad to stop harassing her online.
The source claimed that the 37-year-old Basketball Wives star did not cheat on her spouse while they were in a relationship.
And if Chad did not stop making these false allegations she would be forced to get a restraining order.
The tweets grabbed by TMZ before they were removed from Chad's Twitter feed made quite a few claims in his trademark off-color language.
The first online attack said: '@danikabagency Let's talk about the late night text messages and sneaking around she was doing while we together smashing CERTAIN people!!'
The following tweet expressed more than a little bitterness: '@danikabagency [...] you and your PR campaign to keep them 15 minutes alive... she better hope that YMCMB [...] keep her straight 4 life.'
YMCMB is an acronym for 'Young Money Cash Money Billionaires.'

Gucci Mane Wanted For Attacking A U.S. Soldier
Georgia rapper Gucci Mane formerly of record label So Icey and now of Brick Squad Monopoly. Is a wanted man tonight for attacking a U.S. soldier that just came home from being overseas.
James said he went to Grady Memorial Hospital by ambulance where his injury required 10 stitches.
Atlanta police have issued an arrest warrant for a well-known rapper after a soldier said he was assaulted by him.
The soldier told Channel 2‘s Amy Napier Viteri he was just looking to get a picture with Gucci Mane when the rapper attacked him.
Photos show cuts to the soldier’s head after he said Radric Davis, whose stage name is Gucci Mane, hit him with a champagne bottle last Friday night.
The soldier, who asked only to be called by his first name, James, told Viteri he asked a security guard in the VIP section of Harlem Nights on Courtland Street in Atlanta, if he could get a photo with the rapper.
“I’m in the military. I wanted to get a picture with Gucci Mane, is it OK?” James said he asked the security guard. “I was speaking to the security guard, and Gucci Mane hit me in the head with a bottle.”
James, who serves in the Army, returned home from Afghanistan in October. Last Friday was his first trip to Atlanta with friends to celebrate his birthday. He said he was stunned when Davis reacted violently to his request.
“And as I looked at him in the shock of why, one of his friends hit me in the side of my face,” James told Viteri.
James said he went to Grady Memorial Hospital by ambulance where his injury required 10 stitches.
According to a promotional flyer, Gucci Mane was at the club promoting his new mix tape.
“We do have an active warrant for Mr. Davis for aggravated assault,” Lt. Jeff Cantin of the Atlanta Police Department told Viteri. “So I’m sure after he sees this, I’m sure he’ll want to reach out and contact us.”
“That is dangerous because if there was to be any other fan trying to approach him, ain’t no telling what else he might do to them,” James said.
James said he has a concussion and is suffering from bad headaches.
“He could have possibly killed me. I just hope and pray that I recover pretty well because I still want to serve my military career,” James said.

Soulja Boy Flaunts His Codeine Addiction Via Instagram [PHOTOS]
With Lil Wayne's recent seizure scares putting the spotlight back on codeine use, Soulja Boy has pretty much endorsed the drug. Using Instagram to share a photo gallery of his daily life, the Atlanta rapper made sure to put his cough syrup addiction front and center.
"Make that work work make that sh-t flip," he posted alongside a photo of a plastic bag containing three small bottles, next to one large bottle, of codeine. The image got more than 1,000 responses, may of which criticized the 22-year-old for promoting use of the very substance that led to the death of UGK's, Pimp C.
"You are a dumb a-- and you are going to end up dead behind this sh-t," wrote one person. "We don't give a sh-t [about] you. We trying to save Wayne!"
He allegedly got so much backlash that some of the comments were removed.
In looking further into his Instagram account, I found that codeine is often the object of the Atlanta native's affection.
This stuff is no joke, but maybe he doesn't get it.
President Obama Meets Crowned Miss Israel
Israel is putting its best face forward for President Obama, and what better face to put forward for America’s first black president than Israel’s first black beauty queen? The newly crowned Miss Israel is an Ethiopian Jewish immigrant to Israel.
She joined Obama on Thursday for the official state dinner in Jerusalem. Ethiopian immigrants have struggled to integrate into Israeli society, but Obama will be getting a taste of some of their recent success stories.
A few weeks ago, more than a quarter of all Israeli TV viewers watched the judges announce the new Miss Israel of 2013.
Titi is her name, short for Yityish Aynaw. She was the only black finalist in this year’s beauty pageant and she has become Israel’s first black beauty queen. She’s tall, commanding, and outspoken.
“It’s time that someone from my community, someone with my skin color, who is Israeli just like everyone else, represent the country,” Aynaw said.

I feel for Kim and how throughout this whole pregnancy all she is thinking about is her weight, which I understand, but trying to fit your big belly in a pencil skirt is a no, no. Even though her family is trying to calm her fears about her weight, it just doesn’t seem to be helping. In fact she is talking about having a Tummy Tuck after she gives birth. She feels that will take away most of her weight. She needs to accept she has no waist and stop trying to create the illusion of one.
Kardashian, who is due in July, added that she’s been trying to prepare for the baby by taking things a little easier in the months leading up to the birth.”I like to be active,” she said. “But I’ve been chilling out. I took a week off, just to rest, and it was amazing.”
I really feel that she needs to give it up and just be happy and pregnant, but maybe that’s a hard thing to do when you have Kanye as the father of your child critiquing every little thing. He has her so self conscious that she can’t even focus on being cute and pregnant. I feel sorry for her she has a serious control freak on her hands….
