A DC Drag Performer gets ATTACKED! But was it homophobic or not?

A savage beating of a DC Drag Performer But was it homophobic or not?
A male drag performer was punched, kicked, and dragged by his hair on the floor at the Manny & Olga’s pizzeria on 14th Street, N.W., about 2 a.m. last Sunday by two female attackers in an incident that was captured on video taken by a bystander who cheered the attackers.

An official with the D.C. police department’s Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit said police were investigating the incident and were reviewing the video, which had been posted on at least two websites, to determine the identity of the attackers. The incident was expected to be classified as a hate crime.
Miles DeNiro, 24, who had just performed under his drag name Heidi Glum at the nearby Black Cat nightclub, said he suffered cuts and bruises to his head and upper body and had clumps of hair pulled from his head in an encounter he described as horrifying and traumatic.

“I had ordered some food and was waiting and one girl approached me and she started touching my face, telling me I needed to blend my makeup,” DeNiro told the DC’s Washington Blade.

DeNiro, who said he identifies as a gay man, said he was dressed in drag after just having completed a performance at the Black Cat.

He said he asked the woman not to touch him and to “please back off” when another woman approached him and began calling him a “tranny” and “shouted insults at me saying I was a man and a faggot.” He said he shouted back as the name-calling escalated  “Then I flipped out,” DeNiro said. “I spit in her face and her friend jumped in and they started dragging me around by my hair while punching me in the face repeatedly and kicking me,” he said. “They had me held down on the ground and they were pulling my hair out.”

The video shows the two women dragging and punching him before knocking him to the floor as bystanders shouted and cheered. An unidentified man who took the video can be heard repeatedly shouting and screaming the words “World Star,” which refers to a hip hop music website, on which the video was later posted.
The video, which was also posted on the site liveleak.com, shows one of the Manny & Olga’s employees walking past where the women were punching DeNiro while carrying out several boxes of pizzas.
“There were five or six workers behind the counter or in the kitchen area and none of them did anything to stop it,” DeNiro said.
The assault ended, according to DeNiro, when two men walked into the restaurant from the sidewalk and pulled the two women away from him.

“I don’t know who they are but they appeared to have seen what was happening through the window and came in to help,” he said.
DeNiro said two friends who were with him drove him home. He said he chose not to call police at the time of the incident but reported the attack to police Monday afternoon at the Third Police District at 17th and V Street, N.W.

Sgt. Matt Mahl, supervisor of the Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit, said police first learned about the incident a few hours earlier when Rick Rosendall, president of the Gay and Lesbian Activists Alliance, emailed a link to the video of the incident to the GLLU office. Rosendall told the Blade he received the video in an email sent by one of DeNiro’s friends, who also sent a link to the video to the Blade and other news media outlets.

Police spokesperson Gwendolyn Crump told the Blade a second police report was filed by a party other than DeNiro related to an incident at Manny & Olga’s, but she didn’t identify who the other party was.
A man who identified himself only as Jamie and said he was a manager at Manny & Olga’s, located at 1841 14th Street, N.W., said the owners of the carry out restaurant were cooperating with police. He said the owners agreed to a request by police to show investigators footage from Manny & Olga’s in-house video surveillance cameras taken at the time of the incident. He said police were scheduled to view the video at 9 p.m. Tuesday evening.

“It’s my understanding that someone here did call the police and the police came,” Jamie told the Blade.
But DeNiro said police did not come before he left the restaurant to go home sometime after 2 a.m. on June 23. He said police could have arrived for an unrelated incident at the restaurant on a night in which he said “a lot of rowdy people” were on the street outside and inside Manny & Olga’s.”
DeNiro said he regrets that when he arrived home and observed the extent of his injuries, including damage to his scalp where hair had been pulled from its roots, that he posted two messages on his Twitter account using a racial slur to describe one of the two women attackers who is black.

WATCH:

The LGBT news website Queerty, which posted a story about the assault against DeNiro, quoted DeNiro’s Twitter postings, which used the “N” word. Well now one of the two women has filed a police report accusing the man of biting her leg and telling her “now you have AIDS.”

The report given by the woman, which D.C. police made public Tuesday afternoon, was the latest development stemming from an incident early Sunday morning, June 23, at Manny & Olga’s pizzeria on 14th Street, N.W., in which Miles Denaro, 24, says he was attacked by two women who called him a “tranny” and “faggot.”

Denaro said he bit the women in self-defense but denies he ever told her she had or would get AIDS.
According to Denaro, no one, including about six Manny & Olga employees, came to his aid during the assault.
The police report taken from the woman, who is identified as Rachel Manna Sahle, 22, of Gaithersburg, Md., classifies her biting allegation against Denaro as a felony aggravated assault that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail.
The police report taken from Denaro classifies the assault by the two women against him as a misdemeanor simple assault, which has a maximum sentence of six months in jail and/or a fine of $1,000.
Police spokesperson Gwendolyn Crump said police would have no comment on any details of the case because it remains under investigation. No arrests had been made in the case as of Wednesday.

It couldn’t immediately be determined why the police reports classified the woman’s allegation as a more serious offense than Denaro’s complaint – which is backed up by the video – that the two women injured him in a violent attack.
Denaro told the Blade he did, in fact, bite Sahle on her leg but said he did so in self-defense in a desperate attempt to get her to stop pulling out his hair. He denies telling her she had or would get AIDS.
“She was ripping my hair out,” he said. “I have a bag full of my own hair that I picked up off the floor. She ripped my hair out repeatedly. There was nothing I could do to get her off of me because the other girl was on top of me and she was really huge.”

Added Denaro, “At that time, with my face on the ground in her legs, the only thing to help get out of it was to bite her. It didn’t draw any blood. I don’t think I broke the skin. I just bit her hard enough so that she would let go of me. And it worked. She did.”
The police report of Sahle’s allegation against Denaro says Sahle gave a different version of what happened from that of Denaro.

The report says Sahle told police Denaro “became verbally combative” with her at the restaurant. It says Sahle claims that after she and Denaro exchanged words “several people began to fight inside the establishment.” During that altercation, Denaro “bent down and bit Complainant 1 [Sahle] on the right thigh.”

It says that shortly after biting her Denaro stated, “That’s why I bit you, now you have AIDS, bitch.”

Based on the conflicting statements made by Denaro and Sahle, police investigators and prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s office will have to decide who to believe and who to charge with a possible crime such as assault.
Denaro told the Blade that he is HIV positive. The video shows him shouting at the other woman who assaulted him that she would get AIDS as he wiped blood dripping over his face. He said the blood came from two head wounds he sustained when the women knocked him down and his head hit the floor.
“I was doing what I thought was the responsible thing to do – to tell the girl I’m positive,” he said.
The police report taken from Denaro says Denaro told police that the two women started the altercation when one of them criticized his makeup and started touching his face. The report taken from Denaro contradicts the report taken from Sahle by saying the altercation was limited to Denaro and the two women.

Simply Horrific!

D.C Transgender Woman Bree Wallace STABBED 40 TIMES!

Bree Wallace 'Transgender' woman stabbed repeatedly in D.C. attack
D.C. police have declined to confirm whether they have arrested a male suspect for allegedly stabbing a 29-year-old transgender woman as many as 40 times in an abandoned house in Southeast Washington around 1 a.m. on Friday morning.
A police report, which lists the incident as an assault with intent to kill, says the stabbing took place at 3038 Stanton Road, S.E. It says the victim, Bree Wallace, managed to run several blocks to the apartment building where she lives on the 2400 block of 15th Place, S.E., before collapsing on the street.

The report says Wallace was taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center in nearby Cheverly, Md., where she was being treated for multiple stab wounds to the back and chest and severe lacerations to both of her hands.
“I don’t know why he did it,” Wallace said in a phone interview on Sunday from her hospital bed. “He didn’t say anything,” she said in recounting how the incident took place after she recently met the attacker in the neighborhood near where she lives.

“The investigation has revealed that this assault with intent to kill was neither random nor a hate crime,” police spokesperson Gwendolyn Crump told the Washington Blade in an e-mail.
But Crump and other police officials have declined to confirm Wallace’s assertion that police told her father that they arrested a suspect in the case late Friday or early Saturday.

“They told my dad,” said Wallace, in recounting that a police investigator informed her father that an arrest had been made.

Trans activists Earline Budd and Ruby Corado, of DC who know Wallace, said she told them she and the attacker had known each other casually prior to the attack. Corado said Wallace told her the attacker sent her a text message asking to meet up with her at the location where the stabbing occurred.
Corado told the Blade that Wallace informed her that at some point she declined the man’s request that the two become romantically or sexually involved. Corado said Wallace was a client at Casa Ruby, an LGBT community center with outreach to the Latino and trans communities for which Corado serves as director.

Wallace was also among 12 contestants chosen as a trans “calendar girl” in a fundraising contest sponsored by Casa Ruby as part of a Casa Ruby program to help train clients as makeup artists, Corado said.
Budd said the victim had also been one of her clients at Transgender Health Empowerment, a trans advocacy and services organization that recently has curtailed its operations due to financial problems.

“Complainant 1 [the victim] stated that she had met with Suspect 1 at the event location to buy a cigarette,” the police report says. “According to Complainant 1, Suspect 1 then suddenly started to stab Complainant 1 for unknown reasons,” the report says.

Budd and Corado said Wallace also informed them that police told her father that the suspect had been arrested and was expected to appear for a presentment or arraignment at D.C. Superior Court on Saturday during the court’s weekend proceedings.
“She knows who this guy is and she told police who he is,” Budd told the Blade. “I’m puzzled over why the police won’t confirm whether they made this arrest or not.”

Crump didn’t respond to a inquiry about whether an arrest had been made.
Sgt. Matt Mahl, supervisor of the police Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit, said the unit had been briefed on the incident but said he wasn’t authorized to comment further. He said the incident was still under investigation.

Budd expressed concern that police officials had not issued a public announcement about the incident over the weekend to alert the media and the community that a trans person had been attacked in what Budd called another in a string of violent anti-trans attacks that have occurred in the city over the past several years.
“I just want to make sure that it gets out there, that this attack happened and how brutal it was,” Budd said. “And also the message needs to be sent that transgender folks need to be very, very cautious in terms of their surroundings, who they are talking to and especially in the nighttime hours.

Budd and Corado said Wallace told them doctors informed her that she had been stabbed about 40 times.
D.C. property records show that the unoccupied house where the stabbing took place was sold for $100,000 in January to a company called the Kamyab Group based in Fredericksburg, Va.

Wallace said she and the attacker entered the house through a door that was detached from its hinges.

My goodness Lets get JUSTICE for this woman!

This sick bastard who Killed Mark Carson has plead "NOT GUILTY'

Elliot Morales, Mark Carson’s Killer PLEADS NOT GUILTY!
Sick bastard Elliot Morales, charged with murder as a hate crime in the brutal killing of a NYC gay man, Mark Carson (pictured), pleaded not guilty today in a Manhattan court room, the New York Daily News reports:
"The disturbed suspect shook his head as the charges of second degree murder as a hate crime, menacing a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon were read out in Manhattan criminal court."
As reported earlier, Carson was shot in the face at point-blank range and killed in Greenwich Village on May 18. Morales' lawyer, Kevin Michael Canfield, recently attributed his client's actions to being sexually abused as a child. Additional details were also revealed today about the horrific circumstances surrounding the murder:

"[Morales] boasted of the murder moments after pulling the trigger, court documents claim.
'He thought he was tough, and I shot him. It's the last thing he'll remember,' Elliot Morales, 33, told cops according to court documents released at his arraignment Tuesday.
'Guy thought he was tough in front of his b---- so I shot him. Diagnosis is dead, doctor.'"

Morales also allegedly threatened police during the course of his interrogation:
"'I keep bringing you deeper and deeper into my hell,' Morales allegedly said. 'Just wait till I get these cuffs off, the first b---- cop I see I'm gonna take out.'"
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance used the occasion to call attention to the prejudice that LGBT people face every day, even in places such as New York City.  Via CBS New York:
“'This young man’s tragic death serves as a reminder of the discrimination that many of our family members, coworkers, and friends still face,' said Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance. 'This defendant is charged with targeting and gunning down Mark Carson on the streets of Greenwich Village because of his sexual orientation. Mr. Carson was murdered as he walked through a neighborhood that has long been a center of the gay rights movement and home to many LGBT New Yorkers, as well as a destination for LGBT visitors from around the globe...Bias-related crimes have no place in New York City. By instilling fear, hate crimes tear at the very fabric of our communities.'”
Justice must be served for Mark Carson! #WEAREALLMARKCARSON!

An "Elmo" Victim is the Latest NYC Gay Bashing Victim!

An "Elmo" Victim is the Latest NYC Gay Bashing Suspect!
A gay man who sued ex-Elmo voice Kevin Clash for alleged sexual abuse was brutally attacked in Brooklyn this week in what police are calling yet another hate crime.
Kevin Kiadii, 25 — who claims that when he was 16 Clash sodomized him — was kicked and punched repeatedly Wednesday night in Prospect Park by five men who yelled anti-gay slurs at him and a pal, sources said.
“I’ll kill you, faggot,” one of the men said, according to Kiadii.
“I said, ‘You’re disrespecting me,’ ” said Kiaddi, a professional makeup artist.
“He stood up and punched me in the face — straight sucker punch. It hurt.”
Kiadii reached into his bag and grabbed a bottle of perfume and used it like pepper spray on the man who punched him.
“If it wasn’t for my Dior bottle, I’d be in so much damage,” he told The Post.”
The violent gang injured Kiadii’s finger, scratched his arm and face, and bruised his shoulders and ribs before cops arrived.
The five men — ranging in age from 16 to 21 — were charged with gang assault, court records show.
Kiadii filed a federal lawsuit in April charging that Clash, 52, “trolled gay telephone chat-line rooms to meet and have sex with underage boys.”
Kiadii is the fifth man to sue Clash for sex abuse.
The attack against Kiadii was the second anti-gay assault in Brooklyn just this week — as hate crimes continue to rise around the city.
An unidentified 27-year-old man aboard a J train Sunday was punched twice by a man who made anti-gay comments toward him.

WELL DAMN! Another Trans Woman BRUTALLY MURDERED!

Trans woman stabbed, dumped in pond tied to concrete in Ohio
A 20-year-old transgender woman was found three weeks after she went missing half-naked with numerous stab wounds
A transgender woman was stabbed repeatedly and dumped into a pond tied to a block of concrete in Cleveland, Ohio.

Cermia by her birth given name, Carl Acoff, police announced yesterday they had identified her body after she went missing a month earlier on 27 March.
The 20-year-old was found three weeks later naked from the waist down with multiple wounds.
The man who found her initially believed the body was a mannequin, and contacted police who checked their missing persons list.
Nicole Cantie, Acoff’s cousin, told Fox8: ‘He ain’t deserve to die like this. They didn’t have to do him like this.’ I guess the couson didn't much respect for her own cousin?

In the past, Cermia (Acoff) had clashed with police and the courts over her wish to be treated as a woman.
In January 2012, a judge found her guilty of possessing dangerous drugs after Acoff pleaded no contest. These drugs included hormones used to boost oestrogen in women. She was fined $1000 and sentenced to 100 days in jail.
A year before, Acoff was fined $100 after being found guilty of failing to pay a fare and telling officers she was a woman.

At any rate R.I.P Cermia!

The Atlanta Gay Bashers pleads GUILTY to Federal Hate Crimes Law!

Assailants in Atlanta anti-gay beating plead guilty to federal hate crime charges
Two young men convicted in Fulton Superior Court in the anti-gay beating of Brandon White last year pleaded guilty to federal hate crime charges today in U.S. District Court. This case is the first in Georgia to charge a violation of the sexual orientation section of the federal hate crimes law.

Christopher Cain and Dorian Moragne, both of Atlanta, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge J. Owen Forrester.
“Violence against another person because of his or her sexual orientation has no place in our civilized society,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates in a prepared statement. “The citizens of this district should know that we are committed to aggressively prosecuting hate crimes.”

White was attacked on Feb. 4, 2012, by a group of young men who shouted "faggot" at him repeatedly. A video of the beating was posted to a popular hip hop website and went viral.
In July, Cain, 18; Moragne, 19;  and Darael Williams, 17; were sentenced in Fulton Superior Court after being found guilty of the brutal beating of White.
At the time of the sentencing, Fulton prosecutor Gabe Banks said he believed the beating was a hate crime because of the slurs used in the attack and added the FBI and U.S. Attorneys Office were still investigating the crime.
Fulton Superior Court T. Jackson Bedford sentenced Cain, Moragne and Darael Williams to five years in prison.
The Fulton County District Attorney’s office asked for 15 years for all men with Moragne to serve 10 and Cain and Williams to serve eight. The men all pleaded guilty to the beating of Brandon White, 20, as he exited a convenience store in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh community.
“You all are the ultimate bullies,” Bedford told the young men before handing down the sentence at the July hearing.

“You didn’t like the way [Brandon White] looked, dressed or conducted himself and that’s nothing but being bullies. I don’t think you set out overtly to attack anyone in the gay community. I think this was based on a peer dynamic situation,” Bedford said.
But federal officials believed the beating of White was a gay bashing and the young men should be charged under the federal Matthew Shephard and James Byrd Hate Protections Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama on Oct. 28, 2009.

“Hate-fueled violence will not be condoned,” said Roy L. Austin Jr., Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, in a press release. “The Justice Department will use all the tools in our law enforcement arsenal to investigate and prosecute hate crimes.”
Mark F. Giuliano, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Atlanta Field Office, also promised violence against people who are perceived different will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
“The FBI remains committed to ensuring the civil rights of all individuals, to include those singled out and attacked because of their perceived differences,” he said in a statement. “These acts of violence should be reported and aggressively investigated to ensure that we send a clear message that these actions will not be tolerated.”
Brandon White, in an interview last year with the GA Voice, said he knows LGBT people are beaten every day but don't have the evidence like he had in his case.

“There are people who have been through this situation before where there was no evidence. People get jumped on daily, people have homophobic slurs thrown at them daily. For me to have proof and a video that was uploaded and the world to see it...it's just crazy,” he said.

The first federal indictment of a hate crime based on sexual orientation was handed down on April 12, 2012, against two Kentucky men.

Gay Man Attacked on NYC Subway; Onlookers Do Nothing!
A 23-year-old gay man and his partner were attacked on the No.2 train in NYC on Monday night, the NY Daily News reports:
Urena Morel Frankelly and his partner were on a southbound No. 2 train Monday night when a woman took a picture of them eating and her friend called them names.

“Why you taking a picture?” the victim asked.
“Feed you face, f-----" the suspect shouted back. Another woman with her chimed in, apparently asking the partner: “Why you with that f-----?”
Following the exchange, Frankelly was attacked (a man joined the two women) and repeatedly punched, the paper adds. Frankelly's eye was cut and swollen shut.
His partner said nobody came to their aid: “Everyone was watching — no one helped us. That was a very scary situation for us...Right now we’d just prefer to be alone.”

The NYPD has launched a hate crime investigation, the NY Post reports.

This Transgender Male was Killed & dumped in a Trash Landfill!

This Transgender Male was KILLED and dumped in a TRASH LANDFILL
Milwaukee police arrested five people in connection with the death of transgender rapper Evon “Yung LT” Young, who was reported missing on New Year’s Day.
The 22-year-old transgender man was reported last seen in public near North 52nd Street and West Custer Avenue later on Jan. 1 and did not report for work. Young’s mother filed a missing person report with the Milwaukee Police Department on Jan. 2.
On Jan. 23, the arrest of three people in connection with the case — Victor Stewart, 27, Ashanti Mcalister, 19, and Billy R. Griffin, 26, Young’s roommate. Later on the day, the arrests of Ron Joseph Allen, 37, and Devin L. Seaberry, 23, were reported.

The Milwaukee District Attorney’s office has charged all five with first-degree intentional homicide.
The criminal complaint states that investigators suspect Young was killed in the basement of the residence he shared with Griffin in what began as a gang re-initiation test for Griffin.
According to the complaint, Young and Griffin were home when the door bell rang. Stewart and Mcalister were at the door, along with Allen and Seaberry. The men entered and went into the kitchen, where an argument ensued.

Griffin allegedly told police that the men began to punch Young and said the victim could not be trusted. Young then was led to the basement, where the attackers choked Young with a chain. Then they placed a plastic bag over his head, rendering Young unconscious. The assailants beat and shot Young, possibly as many as three times. Mcalister allegedly fired the weapon.
Authorities allege the basement was cleaned with beach. Evidence collected in the crime includes DNA, blood, burned clothing and a chain.
Both Griffin and Stewart allegedly made admissions to police, who were searching a landfill on Jan. 23 for Young's body, which the men allegedly placed in a Dumpster.

In a statement on Jan. 23, FORGE, a transgender rights and support group, said, "FORGE sends its condolences to Young's family and friends. We also recognize that when anyone is killed or harmed, those who share the victim's identity may react with intense grief, anger or fear. We ask our community to be caring, compassionate and supportive of each other as we acknowledge the pervasiveness of violence in our culture, and the accompanying sorrow many of us are feeling."
Regarding reports on Young's life and death, FORGE asked for accuracy and respect in coverage. The statement said, "Several media outlets have inaccurately characterized Young's gender. In interviews with his mother, (Annette) Cross-Perry has consistently referred to her child as male and with masculine pronouns and name. FORGE encourages all media and individuals talking about this case to respectfully use masculine pronouns (he, him, his) and name (Evon, or his rapper name YuNG LT)."
Evon Young's mother, Annette Perry, told a rain-soaked crowd Tuesday that she has learned more about her son's heart in death than she ever knew while he was alive.
"I had a person tell me that she was in the hospital for two weeks and everyday E rode the bus out to West Allis and sat by her side. Just because he wanted her to know that somebody was there," said Perry. "I didn't even know half the things he had done until all of this has happened"

More than a dozen people gathered outside of Young's home for a vigil organized by the Milwaukee Peace for Change Alliance.

Meanwhile, investigators continue to use machinery and cadaver dogs to search for Young's body at a Menomonee Falls landfill.
Prosecutors have said they believe a trash bin containing Young's body was brought to the landfill.
Young had been missing since New Year's Day. Court documents indicated that a group of men got into a fight in Young's kitchen that day. One of the men told police they took Young to the basement of the home and killed him. According the documents they later threw Young's body into a trash bin

Young's family said through his death they will grow stronger.
"I know my baby was good. He had a good heart," said Perry. Hopefull they will be prosecuted to the FULLEST EXTENT of the Law
Evon...R.I.P!

OH MY ANOTHER LESBIAN HATE CRIME! BEAT DOWN IN MIAMI!

Nacrisha Cash, Gay College Student, Beaten In Alleged Hate Crime!

Nacrisha Cash, Gay College Student, Beaten In Alleged Hate Crime
A college student who was beaten at a gas station near campus Sunday says she was the victim of a hate crime.
Nacrisha Cash, 19, told WSVN she believes her style of dress and sexual orientation prompted the assault, which left her with cuts and bruises on her face and lips.
According to a police report, the incident began when the Florida Memorial University student and a friend sought snacks at a Citgo station on NW 42nd Avenue in Miami Gardens.

After watching Cash argue with the cashier because the women weren't buying enough merchandise to justify a debit card purchase, the suspect, who was in line behind them, reportedly yelled, "Shut the fuck up or I'll fuck your fat gay ass up."
The suspect then made a purchase and followed the pair outside, where Cash says he then punched her several times in the face and kicked her as she lay on the ground.
"He told me, 'Oh you wanna be like a dude? I'm gonna beat you like one,'" Cash said.
(Watch video): WSVN-TV -
Miami Gardens Police spokesman Bill Bamford told HuffPost investigators are still taking statements and will view surveillance video from the gas station when the owner returns to town later this week. The alleged remarks make the ensuing assault and subsequent criminal investigation exceptionally more serious. "Once the comments were made about her sexual orientation, it does raise the bar to a hate crime," Bamford told WSVN.

I guess one day it GETS BETTER?
