Hillary Clinton supports Marriage Equality! It Took long Enough!

Hillary Clinton NOW support Marriage Equality! It Took long Enough!
Via HuffPo: Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced her support for gay marriage Monday, putting her in line with other potential Democratic presidential candidates on a social issue that is rapidly gaining public approval.
Clinton made the announcement in an online video released Monday morning by the gay rights advocacy group Human Rights Campaign. She says in the six-minute video that gays and lesbians are "full and equal citizens and deserve the rights of citizenship."

"That includes marriage," she says, adding that she backs gay marriage both "personally and as a matter of policy and law."
Clinton's announcement is certain to further fuel the already rampant speculation that she is considering another run for president in 2016. Other possible Democratic contenders – including Vice President Joe Biden, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley – all back the right of same-sex couples to marry.
Polls show that public opinion on gay marriage has shifted perhaps more rapidly than on any other major issue in recent times. In Gallup polling last November, 53 percent of adult Americans said same-sex marriages should be granted the same status as traditional marriages, while 46 percent felt they should not be valid.

In 1996, when Gallup first asked about gay marriages, 27 percent felt they should be valid.
The shift among the major political parties has been equally swift. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Clinton and rival Barack Obama both backed civil unions for gay couples, but not same-sex marriage. In the lead-up to the 2012 election, Obama announced his support for gay marriage and Democrats backed the right of same-sex couples to wed in their party's official platform.

The White House welcomed Clinton's announcement, saying it meant Clinton's views on the issue were now in line with Obama's.

"The president believes that anytime a public official of stature steps forward to embrace a commitment that he shares to equality, he thinks it's a good thing," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.
The GOP officially opposes gay marriage, though several high profile Republicans have publicly backed the right of same-sex couples to wed. On Friday, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman became the first Republican senator to announce his support for gay marriage, saying he had a change of heart after learning that his son is gay.

More than 100 Republicans also submitted a "friend of the court" brief to the Supreme Court asking the justices to overturn California's ban on same-sex marriage. The court will hear oral arguments on California's Proposition 8 measure next week.

Justices will also hear arguments in a related case concerning the constitutionality of a provision in the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as between one man and one woman. President Bill Clinton signed the act into law in 1996, but said earlier this month that he now believes it is unconstitutional and should be overturned.

Despite holding back in supporting same-sex marriage, Hillary Clinton was a strong support of gay rights, both in the U.S. and abroad, during her tenure at the State Department. Under her watch, the U.S. government made it official policy to promote gay rights around the world.

I’m sure you are wondering why my Title says “It Took long Enough!” Well it has and even though she gave a great speech in Geneva Switzerland for the rights of all. Lets not forget something. While she was still Sec of State she granted an interview with The Advocate’s Kerry Eleved that was interesting.
From The Advocate:
Clinton soon after declaring that “human rights are gay rights, and gay rights are human rights, once and for all” at the State Department’s pride celebration, Clinton began clarifying the department’s LGBT human rights policy to U.S. embassies around the globe. “There is this rising global tide of violence against the LGBT community around the world,” Clinton says, “and we are taking the lead in confronting the dangers of the lives and the livelihood of LGBT people as they go about their daily lives.” Still, Secretary Clinton remains unchanged on the issue of full marriage equality. Clinton, recently caught off guard during a recent inquiry on the topic during a visit to Australia, supports civil unions but not full marriage equality. Despite her husband’s recent announcement that he supports full marriage equality, having many committed gay couples among his friends, Clinton says, “Well, I share his experience because we obviously share a lot of the same friends, but I have not changed my position.” Nevertheless, Clinton aims to stomp out inequities in her own federal agency and worldwide. “I just really have a strong negative reaction to prejudice, discrimination, hatred, violence–anything that tried to delegitimize or marginalize any of our fellow citizens,” she notes. “So it fits into my long-term and personally felt commitment to expanding the circle of human rights for everyone.”

As for that Australia trip and her comments about Civil Unions over Marriage watch below at the 2:45 mark and HEAR it for yourself.

The LGBTQ Community (in general) has always been a supporter of her in spite of her not believing in Marriage Equality. Whereas they cast ALL HELL at President Obama over his support for Civil Unions and not Marriage via The LGBTQ Blogs they called this man everything but President Obama and vociferously talked about The African American Community while she (Hillary) still did not support it but yet they “overlooked” that. And must we not forget Dan Savage telling President Obama to SHUT THE F*CK UP! Do you think Dan would tell Bill or Hillary that?

From the bottom of my heart Hillary I truly say THANK YOU for endorsing FULL EQUALITY and keeping the discourse on HUMAN RIGHTS, including the rights of LGBTQ humans, on the forefront and will surely support you in 2016!

But STILL it took long enough!

Hillary Clinton pays tribute to Nelson Mandela, 94, as she drops in for lunch and a chat
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had a lunch date with Nelson Mandela when she visited him at the rural village where South Africa's first black president is living out his retirement far from the public eye.
Her private meeting with the Nobel Peace Prize winner was the first event of her visit to the nation and an indication of the prestige still enjoyed by the man who led the fight against white-minority rule.
The two chatted in his home ahead of the meal, an honor that few now receive since Mandela has become increasingly frail with age.
Mandela's wife Graca Machel joined her husband and Hillary Clinton ahead of the lunch
Secretary of State Clinton was granted a rare visit to Mandela who has become increasingly frail with age
Mandela, known in South Africa as Madiba, did not speak but smiled as he and his wife Graca Machel posed for a picture with Clinton.
'That's a beautiful smile!' Clinton, 64, said.
'Madiba's smile is a trademark,' Machel added.
Mandela was elected president in South Africa's first all-race elections in 1994, after spending 27 years as a political prisoner under the segregationist apartheid regime.
Clinton's husband, Bill, was the US president when Mandela took office. Their two families developed close ties, with Bill Clinton paying a visit to Mandela last month on the eve of his 94th birthday.
'Madiba not only represents all that there is great in the world, but (is someone) who to the secretary is a close friend... somebody who she has learned a lot from," a US official said ahead of Clinton's meeting.
A dozen police stood guard outside the property in Mandela's village in Eastern Cape province. Long accustomed to high-profile international guests, Clinton's motorcade attracted little attention as it rolled through.
Hillary Clinton last met Mandela almost exactly three years ago at his Johannesburg home, when she praised the influence that he had on her own life.
Members of the American business delegation include senior executives from Black & Veatch, Boeing, Chevron, EMD/Caterpillar, FedEx Express, GE, Symbion, Trimble, Wal-Mart, and Zanbato.
A trade mission also included the heads of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the US Trade and Development Agency, as well as Robert Hormats, under secretary of state for economic growth, energy and the environment, and Francisco Sanchez, under secretary of commerce for international trade.
'South Africa is critically important to America's commercial interests on the continent,' said Scott Eisner, vice president of African Affairs at the US Chamber of Commerce.
'Expanding the US-South African commercial relationship is in the interests of companies and workers who produce goods exported and sold in South African markets. We applaud Secretary Clinton's attention to the importance of the growing economic relationship between our two countries.'
Clinton is set to leave South Africa on Thursday for Nigeria and then Benin. She is also expected in Ghana for the state funeral of late president John Atta Mills, before heading to Istanbul for talks on the crisis in Syria.

RHOA Rumors : Is Tobey Sanders The New Atlanta Housewife?
If you’re a fan of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, you’ve followed the rumors and firings of the cast. Since last season ended, we learned that Sheree Whitfield would not be returning (rumors suggest that Sheree was fired, while Sheree suggests that she chose to leave). We’ve heard of a few rumored replacements since her departure. Over the summer, we learned that Kenya Moore would be a new cast member on the show. And now, we’ve learned of another potential addition.

Her name is Tobey Sanders and she runs her own interior design business in Atlanta called, FauxDecor LLC. Here’s what we know:
She’s designed for a number of luxury homes and restaurants in Miami, Detroit, Washington, D.C. and Atlanta.
We’ve heard some rumblings about her love life (we’re gonna hold onto those for now), but she runs with a few Atlanta celebrities and socialites like Lance Gross, Keshia Knight Pulliam and Toya Wright.
She’s also pretty close friends with RHOA’s Phaedra Parks and Kandi, who she partied with over the weekend (she was at the party that Kandi threw for her boyfriend, Todd).

Of course, this is all speculation at this point, but what do you think of the new potential cast mate? Stay tuned!

Obama Files Lawsuit Against Ohio to Block New Voting Rules
President Obama has joined the head of the U.S. Department of Justice, Eric Holder in taking an active role in battling those states that are suddenly changing decades-old and centuries-old voting laws for this year’s election. The 44th president of the United States is suing the state of Ohio over changing election laws for the military, putting Obama’s re-election campaign and members of some military groups on a collision course over voting rights in the critical state of Ohio.
No Republican presidential candidate has ever won the White House after losing the state of Ohio. So the back-and-forth chess moves by the left and the right is to get an advantage in the all important Buckeye State.
The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee have filed a lawsuit to block a new state law allowing men and women in uniform to vote up until the Monday right before an election, while the cutoff on early voting for the rest of the public is three days earlier.

Obama campaign officials relayed to Fox News that they are not trying to restrict the voting rights of military members, but to keep the playing field level for all voters in Ohio, by allowing early voting up until Monday for everyone, including members of the military. They contend that a two-tiered, early-voting process is unfair.

“Along with the DNC and Ohio Democratic Party, this campaign filed a lawsuit to reinstate equal, early-voting rights for all Ohioans — rights the Republican controlled legislature arbitrarily stripped away this past year,” Jim Messina, Obama’s campaign manager, said in an email to supporters.
The National Guard Association and sympathizing military groups oppose Obama’s lawsuit vehemently, stating that it’s “offensive” for Democrats to suggest in the lawsuit it’s arbitrary for service members to get special consideration.
Men and women in uniform typically get more time than other voters to send in absentee ballots since they may be serving in an overseas or domestic location that is not close to their home polling station.

Michael Jackson Doctor Arnie Klein May Lose Medical License
Michael Jackson's dermatologist Arnie Klein is in danger of losing his medical license for refusing to take a mental exam.
Michael Jackson's former dermatologist Arnie Klein should NOT be allowed to practice medicine ... so says a CA Medical Board honcho who just filed a request to have Klein's medical license revoked.
The person behind the claim is Linda Whitney -- the Board's Executive Director of Consumer Affairs -- who claims Arnie has refused to undergo mandatory mental and physical examinations, in direct violation of the Board's orders.

Arnie -- one of MJ's closest friends and the doc who prescribed massive quantities of meds for the singer -- was ordered to undergo the examinations following an investigation into an anonymous complaint against the doctor back in 2010, alleging substandard care of two patients.
The patients have not been identified, so it's unclear if one of them was Michael Jackson.
Klein was ordered to submit to mental and physical examinations by June 8 -- but as we previously reported, the doctor refused, demanding to know who's behind the anonymous complaint.

Now, Whitney is asking the Board to pull the plug on his practice.
TMZ spoke with Klein's rep, Joel Douglas, who tells us ... "We're willing to cooperate, we just want to know the reasons behind the investigation. We're optimistic the court will be fair in the matter."

OH NO HILLARY! SHE WAS PELTED WITH TOMATOES AND SHOES?!

FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER!
Hillary Clinton's motorcade pelted with tomatoes and shoes as Egyptian protesters shout 'Monica, Monica'Bye!
Hillary Clinton was targeted by protesters who threw tomatoes and their own shoes at her motorcade during a visit to Egypt on Sunday.
Demonstrators also mockingly chanted 'Monica, Monica' in reference to Bill Clinton's extra-marital affair.
The Secretary of State was on her first trip to Egypt since the election of the country's new Islamist President, Mohammed Morsi.
A senior State Department official said that neither Mrs Clinton nor her vehicle, which were around the corner from the incident, were struck by any of the projectiles.

As well as the shouts of 'Monica', some demonstrators chanted, 'Leave, Clinton.'
The assault on her motorcade came on the day Mrs Clinton spoke at the newly re-opened U.S. consulate in Alexandria, addressing accusations that the U.S., which had long supported former president Hosni Mubarak, was meddling in Egyptian politics.
'I want to be clear that the United States is not in the business, in Egypt, of choosing winners and losers, even if we could, which of course we cannot,' Mrs Clinton said.
The meeting came a day after she met Mr Morsi, whose powers were clipped by the military days before he took office.
The president fired back by reinstating the Islamist-dominated parliament that the army leadership had disbanded after a court declared it void, deepening the stand-off before the new leader even had time to form a government.
The result has been acute political uncertainty as the various power centers try to find a way to get along in a country that still has no permanent constitution, parliament or government more than a year after Mubarak's downfall.
In their hour-long meeting, Mrs Clinton and Mr Tantawi discussed Egypt's political transition and the military's 'ongoing dialogue with President Morsi,' a U.S. official reported.
'Tantawi stressed that this is what Egyptians need most now - help getting the economy back on track,' the official said.
Mrs Clinton 'stressed the importance of protecting the rights of all Egyptians, including women and minorities'.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr Tantawi said the army respected the presidency but would not be deterred from its role of 'protecting' Egypt.
'The armed forces and the army council respects legislative and executive authorities,' he said in a speech to troops in the city of Ismailia. 'The armed forces would not allow anyone to discourage it from its role in protecting Egypt and its people.'
Ties with the United States, which provides Egypt with an annual $1.3billion in military aid, were strained this year when Egyptian judicial police raided the offices of several U.S.-backed non-governmental organisations on suspicion of illegal foreign funding and put several Americans on trial.
The spat ended when Egyptian authorities allowed the U.S. citizens and other foreign workers to leave the country.
During her speech, Mrs Clinton said: 'When we talk about supporting democracy, we mean real democracy.'To us real democracy means that every citizen has the right to live, work and worship as they choose, whether they are man or woman, Christian or Muslim.'Real democracy means that no group or faction or leader can impose their will, their ideology, their religion, their desires on anyone else.' That was a message she is likely to have repeated in meetings on Sunday with women and Christians, both groups that fear their rights may be curtailed under a Muslim Brotherhood-dominated government.

She wanted, in very, very clear terms, particularly with the Christian group this morning, to dispel that notion and to make clear that only Egyptians can choose their leaders, that we have not supported any candidate, any party, and we will not,' a senior official told reporters.
